If we practice well and to our tastes we are individuals and no one can be better at ourselves than another .We are individuals.It is simply a part of our minds,souls and the technique we use. And the circumstances with which we have lived.Hell I have been playing for almost 40 years and my wife got a series of claps in some song down before I did tonight .Oh, well. She had a better understanding of it before I did. And am I said to be pretty talented on the drums. But I loved that she did that. It made me think. Anything is possible for anyone if they believe. My wife didn’t analyze it ,she just did it believing in the space she was in. I was analyzing and failed. Awesome slap from the universe for me.

Danny Carey is a massive guy and he definitely beats the hell out of his drums. Sat in the top row at a tool concert and the drumming felt like I was getting my head kicked in. Even from far away Danny looks massive and jacked . I don’t know how his set survives when he plays the grudge

Dude the hardest I’ve ever seen Dave Grohl hit the drums is when Nirvana played Lithium at the VMA’s. the camera cuts to him on the first chorus and he’s not only head banging from all the way sitting up to almost hitting his head on the snare but he’s hitting the crashes and snare so fucking hard it’s unreal.

People just have very short term memory or they just weren't there at all and think they know better . When Lars came on the scene in 1982 he was the first guy to play those types of beats and fills, it was AMAZING, I can still feel the smile that came to my face when Hit the lights came on the first time on my turn table , a game changer !! It was followed by a lots and lots of imitators. Ever see Metallica live? Lars is a monster, he gives everything he has like not too many drummers out there. I saw Metallica in 1983 in a small auditorium in Quebec city , when the drum started , I was crying FFS , it was too awesome.

One thing you forgot to mention about Eloy in that first video, but it also took me many several watch throughs to realize this: he literally wearing a fucking mouth guard. That’s how hard he’s playing. So yeah, he deserves that number one spot.

Morgan is an incredible drummer, no question. Our bands both rehearsed in the same place, and Sevendust were right across the hall from us. We both would show up early for rehearsal, to get some practice in. It was fun trading 4's across the hall, and he would beat the hell out of that kit. We were both in heavy bands, but had different styles and setups. The Atlanta music scene was so awesome back then, everyone would hang out after rehearsal and just chill. The rehearsal space was attached to a live music club, it was the place to be in the 90's.

Speak for yourself, I LOVE Lars especially because of how much he’s responsible for in terms of the music Metallica has created over the last nearly 40 years! There are few if any drummers who are so involved in the songwriting process. Lars only gets hate because it’s “cool and edgy” to hate on him. People wanted to hate on him for the Napster shit, but guess what, HE WAS 100% RIGHT! I feel like Lars is the best and worst thing to happen to metal drumming. Pretty much every metal drummer under 40 would be lying if they said that Lars wasn’t among their original idols. His influence can be heard in bands coming out today. But the better you get at drums, the more you realize that his beats sound harder and heavier than they actually are. It’s kind of like when you get old enough to realize that your dad isn’t actually a super hero. And then you listen to St Anger, and you treat Lars like the racist uncle that always shows up to thanksgiving, even though no one invited him.

@@annikancrylarker3314 look up Joey Jordison Creeping Death. There was a Metallica show awhile back where something happened to Lars, and he couldn’t play. So the drummers from the other bands split the set list up and filled in. I think Dave Lombardo was on that show as well.

One guy that seriously impressed me live was Tommy Clufetos. I seen White zombie live about 20 years ago at a very small venue (3-400 people) during a halloween caberet in regina sask. i have seen so may bands in my life and never do i ever remember thinking the drums were going to collapse. I know hes not the fastest or most technical but i have never seen anyone else hit as hard as Tommy. He was literally off his stool on every kick and snare hit.. was the craziest thing ive every seen.. love to see your comments on him. i havent seen any footage that compares to what i seen that night live but its clear this guy smashes his kit..

I would also put Evgeny Novikov on the list (Ex-Katalepsy, Slaughter To Prevail). If you have seen the Drum Playthrough of Demolisher, you can see and feel how hard he hits the drums in the breakdown like it owes him money. And he is also pretty fast, consistent, precise and creative. If you listen closely, in the chorus of Demolisher he plays a punk style beat, kind of, plus he uses a lot of different cymbals in the songs. And holy hell, he holds the drumsticks upside down. I assume it is also one of the reasons he can hit the snare during Gravity Blasts pretty hard considering in most cases the sound of the snare is a bit quiet when playing a Gravity Blast.
