67 Mustang rear frame rail installation - Part 21

In this video, I install a temporary cross brace to keep the two torque boxes aligned to each other, then I remove the rear frame rails, prep them and the inner rockers for welding, and then install the frame rails.

New viewer. Just a tip, your voice sounds good and it is interesting what you are saying but get yourself a Bluetooth mic because the clarity is not very good so it is hard to hear you. hello i have a 66 coupe which i am trying to restore i am at a loss as far as do i start from the tail light panel the to the trunk brace before installing the complete frame rail or visa versa and on my transition pan does the seat belt alignment hole should there be a hole in the frame rail ?

I believe the metal block with the threaded hole in it that the seat belt bolt threads into is welded to the bottom side of the of the outer flange of the frame rail. If the transition pan is pinched down so that it conforms to the profile of the frame rail, the hole in the panel should align with the hole in the frame rail. That is assuming the frame rail is located at the proper side to side width when you pinch the transition pan down.

If there is a hole in the transition pan, then I would say you’ll probably just have to use that hole as a guide for the hole you’ll need to drill in the frame rail flange. Then either weld a nut on the bottom of the rail or use a piece of 1/4”-3/8” steel plate with a hole tapped to the proper thread size to fab up your own mounting plate. If neither the rail or the transition pan has the hole, then you will probably have to take measurements off the old pan to locate where the new one goes.

Yeah, unfortunately there are some portions of the video where the microphone didn’t do a very good job of picking up the audio. Not much I can do about it after the fact either, so that sucks. The fan in the welder is a bit loud as well, so that makes those portions challenging too. I have to wonder if people who do this stuff more often have additional external microphones.
