This looks really nice man. My dad and I are working on a fastback and had to replace both quarter panels. We took our time to get everything mocked up also. Very nice job though I'm impressed.

Hey I hear you can buy the quarter panels and just bolt on over the old dented one... is this true?

What tools are you using? I have a 67 coupe and I'm not sure kind of tools I need to do a quarter panel job at home.

Besides just basic tools like a drill and sockets, you will need a welder - I have a MIG. I also used an angle grinder with a cutoff wheel and flap disc; a magnetic level. You will also need to be patient and willing to adjust the quarter panels several times. The reproduction panels don't fit perfectly and you will need to work them to make them fit.

The piece between the quarter and the tail light is it a new piece? If so where can I find it? I'm working on a 67 as well that was rear ended

yes, all of the sheet metal on the back of our car is new. i got all of my sheet metal from Mustangs Unlimited here in Connecticut. Get one of their catalogs and you can find all of the pieces that you need.

You should get the car and do the restoration. Do not listen to people who say you cannot do things. I have never done a car restoration before and I am succeeding. You can learn how to do anything by doing research, watching videos on KZbin and just going out and trying it. It will help if you have a garage where you can work on the car and it is protected from the weather. You will also need a place to put the parts of the car that you remove while you are working on the restoration. You will need lots of tools, but get what you need when you need it. Restoration costs less if you do the work yourself, but it does cost money. Finally, do not be discouraged in the beginning. Keep trying and you will succeed.

I'm new to your channel. Are you still working on it?Car looks great! I'm also in CT and doing a 67 convertible. How hard was the quarter panel.to do? I have a replacement panel that came with it and have some rust on the existing panel. I'm trying to decide weather to patch it or do it right and replace.

Yes, I am still working on the car and will be posting an update soon that will explain what has been going on. The quarter panels were one of the more difficult things to do. They have lots of places that have to match up to the rest of the car, including things like the deck lid and tail light panel. It also affects the rear quarter window, and I would strongly suggest that you install the door before you weld up the quarter so you can match how far in or out the face of the quarter needs to be to match the door. Mine were in terrible shape and had to be replaced and it's so nice now to have smooth sheet metal.
