A bolt has thread on the outside. A nut has thread on the inside. 🙂 And studs are very similar to bolts. Bonus. Happy to help out. 😄

I got here via Dylan. It's so nice to be able to follow the car and you guys further. I have to say I admire how you guys work together, your patience and Macey's willingness to learn. I wish I had that kind of rapport with my 13 year old. I do have a 10 yr old that may be able to work with me, but she's got a way to go, and I'm afraid I'm not as able as I once was so the projects will need to be less ambitious. But it's the time together that really counts in the end. Thanks for sharing the journey with us all.

Still having some radiator/heating issues as will be detailed in the next video. Once that is done, we are going to start documenting the interior upgrades. Video is slow to come out as I am in between studios right now, but will hopefully get some video edited and out soon!

I always teach to listen to the advice of others, but do not always accept it as the correct way. It's ok to question and explore other paths. I may teach what I "know" but that does not mean that I am always correct. Anyone that has watched these videos could agree with that. Encourage others to question and challenge you. It will help you and them grow!

First of all I want to say I'm new here and I found it from mr. McCool's channel I want you're doing with the 68 charger. I just want to tell Macy I am extremely proud of her forewarning to start doing this and learning to work on vehicles at 14 years old. Most young ladies your age does not want to forward getting their hands dirty. And I love your comment when you said now my hands look like I worked on a vehicle.

You're proud of her? How do you think I feel!? It is not just about her willingness to get her hands dirty, but knowing that she wants to do all of it to help out someone else (Uncle Larry)

@@MaySeizeGarage and you know that's actually the best part about it. And that's going to be the greatest reward for her in the end is doing that she did it for other people and not herself.

Well done, replacing a starter is tough when doing it on the ground.

I think I may have preferred the ground. Gravel finds ways to poke you in all the wrong ways!

Stay away from bumper jacks and scissor jacks if you can, they aren't safe. Always make sure you chalk your tires before lifting a car, even if it is in park, especially in gravel. Good video, keep up the good work.
@samvalentine3206 Жыл бұрын
Bumper and scissor jacks are fine for lifting a car up in the air to get it off the ground, as long as the vehicle is supported with jack stands afterwards. You're right - they are NOT safe to use as the sole support to hold a car up while one is underneath working on a car. We've all heard horror stories of folks who have died after the car fell on them using only a bumper jack for support. We don't want to go there for sure!

Yes! If you have an impressive floor jack and a great surface to use it on, please use them! Working on cars is not my full time job. I do not have the best tools and my kiddo and I are volunteering to work on this car for my uncle so we can't always purchase the best tools. As you saw in this video, sometimes we have to "hack" a solution (drilling out the o ring using a square bit in an impact drill) It takes more time, and someone with better tools could do it faster. However, I am teaching the kiddo to be resourceful as well as safe. I would love to have this car on concrete and have a four post lift, but we do the best we can with what we have. Hopefully others see these videos with limited resources like us and learn ways to get the job done while being safe at the same time.

@@MaySeizeGarage Absolutely...I have to do the same. I recommend once you get the funds, get a floor jack that has one single roller across the front of it...they are much easier to manipulate than a standard floor jack in the gravel. I got mine on sale at harbor freight for like $100 bucks. Safety first always, you are correct. I am glad to see the jack stands you set up. I will say, for future reference, get it out of the garage with sketchy jacks so you have room to run...lol

Yes, so very proud of her! I love how she gets upset when I am doing a task that she wanted to do herself. Some people would be content with sitting back and letting others do the work. The, "I can do this" mindset is a mentality that I find very desirable in people I work with.

Well the old starter was going to die eventually anyway. So a fresh starter in an old car isn't always a bad idea, saves you being left stranded somewhere.

be careful with bumper jacks the handle can kick back up (esp going down) on you and smack you in face, cause most unaware people will jack up with their faces over the handle. good work tho Macy

Get a hydraulic jack be safe I had a car fall from the bumper Jack's many times there not put in cars anymore for a reason there dangerous
@MaySeizeGarage Жыл бұрын
I have a small jack, but really needed to get the car off of the ground to ensure my dad bod would fit under it. All the work we are doing on the car is pro bono and I have to keep my costs down as best possible. In the video we do discuss the dangers of using a bumper jack and the importance of using jack stands. It is important to teach the kiddos that may not have access to a floor jack how to be safe especially when you do not have the right tools or most desirable working conditions. Plus, if the Mrs. watches the videos and agrees it would be safer with a floor jack, perhaps we can get one approved! Merry Christmas kiddo, Santa got you a floor jack this year! Or maybe I can get her to ask for a garage, you know, for safety reasons.
