I'm not an expert, but I noticed that your running pattern was based on a heel landing, which is bad for the knees. It would be better to convert to a running pattern with smaller steps and a forefoot landing. I myself have had knee problems in the past with a heel landing pattern and they disappeared when I changed my running pattern to a forefoot landing. Congratulations on the race! don't be sad about the time, the important thing is to finish the race and have fun doing it. Cheers!

This is such a great episode! I’ve been following you for years and this is one of my faves. As a long distance runner of 2 NY Marathons (1 in sandals) and dozens of half-marathons, I could relate to many of the struggles you had. I agree, if you took some nutrition at around the 30-minute mark, maybe a gel or whatever you’ve been training with, that will help tremendously! With the pace, level of training, and heat, the carbs and electrolytes would help restore some of those levels lost. It was also probably amplified with the adrenaline and ur Zone 4-ish heart-rate. That’s pretty crazy how far you took it! But you’re intelligent and have lots of good support. Keep working at it, and hydrate well this summer! It’s especially great since u have a garden full of fresh ingredients packed with hydrating electrolytes and fiber. Ur very well-equipped to go far! 🎉

As a runner myself, you actually did very well considering you also went to the bathroom! 😂 You were very close to your time. Extreme heat really zaps your energy. What helps me in extreme heat is wearing a white, breathable tank top. Just the sports bra is ok but makes you even hotter believe it or not. Also a breathable white mesh hat! It does wonders keeping the sun off your face which makes you feel A LOT cooler. Try that clothing next time! And congrats! 🎉 You seriously did excellent.

This made me emotional, I’m at the start of working out and running again, but you did so great and I’m feeling proud of you (even though we’re total strangers). You may not have reached your personal goal, but you did it! You pushed through, you gained valuable insight and, for what it’s worth, you inspired at least one person here 🩷

BRAVO!!!!!! Though today I run ultras (100+ km), I still remember my first 10 km long ago, it looked so big and I was never so excited and happy. Some things I learned: if there is a sun, always cover your head, a white T-shirt would make you cooler than just a top and a lot of skin exposed to radiation. Altra shoes solved my problems with knee injuries (natural shape, zero drop,...). Altra Lone Peak and Injinji socks and you can go 100 km!!!!!

Eugenia!!!!! ❤ OMGAWSH! You did fantabulous! For your age group, out of 573 women your age, you placed 80th! Out of over 5,000 women, you placed 609! And out of 9,800 overall participants, you placed at 2,094!!!!!! Eugenia!! You did it! You did a superb job, BRAVO! You ran 6.2 miles in exactly an hour! That is really good! Even for the emergency pee stop! LOL Without it, you would have ran a sub hour. I’m really happy for you, and yes, I too got a little emotional for you. Please don’t be disappointed in yourself, you’re inspirational. 🌹😀

Mind ur knees who will have to carry u ur entire life. Respect them. Your feet, ankles and back might need loads of loving care and attention. Take a proverified coach whose feeld is running so u learn how to land . If not landing will hurt in the long term. Softness is the way.

Have you looked into minimalist shoes, barefoot shoes for running. It does take a process to run safely this way but once you adjust all injuries past and present should reside. Do your research and give it a try. It DEFINITELY worked for me, a plant base eater, and I was able to go back to running and have been 4- 5 days a week for the past 10 or so years no injury.
