91B20 here, Vietnam 66 for 3 months. I am in awe of what has been developed for you to work with. While I am amazed with the number of lives that are now being saved , sadly, my mind goes back to lives that would have been saved if one or two of those items had been available.

I was a medic in Vietnam in the fall of 66 after 10 weeks of training and all I can say is WOW. I felt helpless and useless on more than one occasion for lack of supplies and knowledge and can now only wish we had the training and equipment you modern medics have. I loved this video.

Pro tip, don’t take your tracheal tube out of its packaging it’s a space pain but it will help make sure your balloon A stays clean and B doesn’t get a hole in it.

You don't have to read the + - for the batteries. The negative end of the battery always goes against the spring. the flat end of the battery is always negative end. I enjoyed your video, good info. I took the combat life saver class in the Army 1987 then was an EMT Basic for 35 years.

You’ll never give NS to a trauma patient unless you are using a medication drip. If someone lost blood, give them blood. As a medic you should be familiar with and carry a blood transfusion kit as well as the medications to give after administering a transfusion. I understand your aid bag is small, however there are a lot of items that is ideal to have that you do not. Electric B/P cuffs are fun, however you should not rely on it and stick with manual. Also, learn the names of the parts of medical equipment.

And as a combat medic in the battle field the last thing I’m going to have is time to apply electrical BP cuffs
@hunterdavis7149
@hunterdavis7149 3 жыл бұрын
@@soldiertech2875 you literally showed the electronic BP cuff in your bag? And you will have time. You’re not gonna run through MARCH and expect to have the casualty out as soon as you are done. What if you’re in an area where the Evac won’t reach for an hour? Or 96 hours? Also, there’s definitely a supply issue and I agree, however, get with who ever orders your class 8 and tell them you need this to properly do your job.
@hunterdavis7149
@hunterdavis7149 3 жыл бұрын
@@soldiertech2875when you are treating a casualty as well, it’s not gonna be go go go 100% of the time. There will be moments where you’ll need to take a step back and slow down so you don’t miss stuff, trend vitals early, if they are awake, get a patient history (if they are your own guys then you should already know all their history) and make sure you are getting their proper meds and drugs at the correct dose. It’s easy to mess up a dosage on narcotics so you always have to make sure to do it right the first time. As you get more experience you will learn this.

@soldiertech2875

Hello Mike, yes the green bag is a smaller version of the aid bag. Basically it’s enough to treat up to 3 casualties the most really handy because its not so big .

I want to become a army medic but I don't want to risk my life so early, I know it is a war crime to shoot a medic, but did you know any medics that got shot?
@soldiertech2875
@soldiertech2875 3 жыл бұрын
I understand your fear, it’s completely normal . You need to understand that even tho you are a Medic you are a soldier first . That’s how it is in the army no matter what MOS you choose to enlist under you are considered a soldier first . So if you are deployed and attached to an Infantry unit for example, and you are out patrolling with them yes you will see some action if it is during war time . And hey you need to be prepared for that, as a medic your soldiers are counting on you to feel safe so they can ultimately carry out the mission . If a medic is not confidant the Infantrymen WILL notice and they will NOT respect you at all . I personally have not seen a medic get shot or injured but this is life and this is the military anything can happen . Just be confidant in yourself and what you do and carry on day by day if you are ever deployed .
