With ductile strain, rocks can deform into folds with compression, boudinage with tension, and monoclinal folds with shear.

Your content has helped me a great deal . Without which it would have been difficult to understand a few concepts. I wish there were more. I am doing geology from books, research papers and KZbin . Please share more videos.

Hello Prof. Thank you for your videos and podcast. They have been very helpful since I started my geology major in NY. Helping me study for structural geology exam next week :o

This really helped with studying for the NES for my teacher certification. The video format is really beneficial since even pictures in the textbooks are sometimes hard to visualize.

I try to avoid puns, particularly (there's one now) painfully obvious ones, but you rock!

Is it possible to have boudinage structures in sedimentary rocks? Maybe with the deformation occurring during the most ductile fase of diagenesis

Columnar jointing? No no, didn't you hear that those structures are ancient trees and those columnar structures are actually the grains of gigantic trees that our gigantic ancestors depleted? Leaving none behind, including themselves and any evidence of such. 🤦‍♂️ Sorry I had to, there are people that think this is fact.

Folds are an anomaly that can’t be explained by uniformitarianistic thinking. You just can’t bend rock to the extent visualized . Have you considered a single global catastrophic flood?
@CVshorey

Apparently you have not seen recumbent folding nor come to understand that heat, pressure, time, and varying stress levels can certainly bend rock. The evidence is everywhere. I have considered a single global catastrophic flood and realized it would form a global horizon of flood scour and deposits, followed by a global graded bed, and then only material younger than that deposited on top, and that SURE DOESN'T EXIST, so . . . score 1 for uniformitarianism, and facepalm for failed mythologies. I politely invite you to take your religiously based ideas somewhere else.

CVshorey they were relatively soft when they bent and folded without cracking.

CVshorey you realised wrong because you didn’t think about it enough. What evidence should there be? How many layers? That’s how you get layers deposited with knife edge separation.
