"A big white canvas staring at me..."...yes, my dear...these are the perfect words for what is going on here since december! It is huuuge and so I felt too shy to catch it and colour it! Niw I need a lot of material to go ahead. 4ft x 5ft canvas and now I start to paint the silhouette of a lion for my best friend's birthday on sunday. She is a leo in horoscope and her name is Leonie. A lion is the perfect present! "...staring at me..." 😄😁👍🏻 So true... 👋🏻😉

I believe the contact paper would have worked perfect if before the pour you put a clear mate varnish or white paint along the edge of the contact paper & face. Let dry, then pour. It’s a trick stencilers use so paint won’t bleed under. Gorgeous pours though!!! 😊💙✨

tip...i paint the whole canvas white and let dry completely..then i put on the contac paper face. i seal the edges with a small amount of medium and let that dry. then i paint the left side in the background color. again let everything dry. finally i remove the contac paper and continue with the area to be swiped...then swipe. it worked great to do i this way.

A Beautiful creation ! When applying the contact paper, don't remove ALL the backing sheet first, peel a small section away and lay one corner onto the subject piece, then pull the backing sheet away slowly. As you pull the backing sheet away, use a broad edged spatula and slide the trapped air bubbles away from under the contact paper, you will get a flat bubble free paper layer on the subject. Great Video, have Subscribed ! ! !

Super creative! It would have been nice to hear you explain why and what you're doing per step. For instance, making bubbles with a torch. Could you use a heat gun or blowdryer instead to get the same result? Some of us use the tutorials to guide us from the beginning stages of painting with acrylic, etc. If you miss a step and not realize it until the end during editing, use text if necessary, either on a part of the screen or under "show more" under description of video. Other than that, your painting is really beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with us.
@CraftyJenn6 жыл бұрын
Hello :) Yes you can use a heat gun but be careful with a blowdryer as you can blow the paint around and change the painting. I usually just use a torch. Sorry it's not descriptive enough. I just make the videos best I can. Some people hate how long they are and others want more depth. LOL Thank you SO much and thank you for watching :)
@mycroftbrooks46026 жыл бұрын
Excuse me, that using of a torch explains emergence of some bubbles, but not the ones that had been there right after you swiped the paint. They were very little and grew bigger then. Did you add some oil in the paint for this effect?

Beautiful!!! I loved it. But I would of love to see how you did the blue in front of the face. Did you cover the face or did you just outlined it with a brush?
@CraftyJenn6 жыл бұрын
Thank you SO much :) I just hand painted the negative space and went around the white face with a brush by hand. If you accidentally go over the white you can just wait for it to dry and paint the white back over - that's the beauty of acrylic paint :) Thank you so much for watching ;)
@dustincorkill-bomgaars59386 жыл бұрын
@CraftyJenn I love this concept! Here are some technical pointers you might want to try. Put down your base color coat, let it dry, mask, brush a light coat of the base coat on the edge of the mask to seal the edge, let dry, then pour. Sealing your mask edge with the bottom color will eliminate the bleed through and save you a few steps since you're working from the bottom up you won't have to go back and paint the background in later. Using this technique you will want to remove your masking before paint is completely dry to avoid peel off of top coat. When using vinyl or any adhesive backed product as a mask, it's a good idea to screet the edge with a plastic tool such as a putty knife in order to obtain the optimum seal. Can't wait to see more, keep up the good work!
@CraftyJenn6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your awesome tips :) I do burnish the edge and coat it under and over and I have had less leaks LOL I neven really know what base coat color I want to use till after the pour is finished so that's why it's usually white LOL Thank you for sharing and thank you for watching ;)

next time, use some golden or liquitex clear gel medium along the edge of the contact paper, brush the edge on and then use a clean gloved finger to push it over the edge of the contact paper and canvas where it might leak let that dry then do another layer so you essentialy are damming the edge of the paper and you wont get any bleeding through of clours. i use this technique when doing geometrics so only the space in between the taped areas take the colours im using then when completely dry only then should you add colour

Well it blead thru the same places your did. LOL And her face is all the colors. So we will see some of it still wet have to wait to take off the rest. I used a different face than yours. I think it bleed thru because the canvas was not really tight.

Total fail, bummer. But learned something the masking fluid works fantastic. Dries quick, doesn't pull up paint leaves a very clean edge.
