I can't sing, this is surely useful! One thing I like doing to my own subpar vocals is throwing a vocoded layer to help mask the crappiness. It can double (no pun intended) as a cool harmony layer too, but it does require writing some chords.

I used the Graillon 2 auto tune to make sure the vocal is in the right key. But if you mean when actually singing then I guess you have to practice your singing and your ears until you can hear how you're supposed to sing.
