I suppose I was expecting to hear that on technical stuff the KTM would be a handful with all the extra power, higher seat height etc., 6:34 interesting to hear you describe about the opposite, with the KTM being the better set up machine for more difficult terrain. Apples & Oranges!!! LoL, gotta love it. Funny because I am torn about buying my second bike in the form of a CRF300L Rally or a 701 Husky. I would upgrade the suspension and seat on the Honda.

I have both 2019 690 and a CRF 300. I’m selling the 690. I’m an experienced rider. I have more fun in the 300.

Thats very interesting as I'm looking at both bikes (I have a Triumph Rally Pro for the two up excursions) any regrets selling the 690?

@@AlpineTreeCare Not at all, after selling the 690 I bought another 300, this time the Rally. I have both the L and the Rally now. For adventures the Rally is perfect, for local rides the L is more adequate. An L with the acerbis tank can be a good solution for adventures too, if there's not much of highways to get there. Never regretted selling the 690, honestly.

@@AlpineTreeCare You are welcome. The 690/701 are nice bikes but it's too much. Too much power (no need, hard to use anyway), too much weight (and you feel it), to much height/ width (volume), too much complexity (engine, electronics, etc), too much €€€ too. The 300cc hondas lack a bit of power, it's true, but I'm not slower in these bikes than I was in the 690 (the suspensions of the hondas need to be replaced for performance in challenging terrains, for sure).

I’ve been hung up on a 690 for years! I live in Scotland and fantasise about back country trails . Unlike England Scotland does not have many trails accessible to vehicles. I do a lot of e mountain biking to compensate. The 690 looks fun on the road but I have A Triumph900 rally for that and am selling a bmws1000r. ( fuel is is so expensive so can’t justify a sports bike anymore) So I’m wanting a bike to ride off road covertly! I guess with the 300 I’ll lose some tarmac fun ( compared to the 690/701/700es) but gain in the dirt when I find some! thanks for your advice.

Hi. I am interested in doing the TAT (trans america trail). Not sure if you have seen the videos of the terrain or done it yourself. Out of the used 250l, new 300l, new ktm 690 r. And.. Tenere 700. I am considering these. I like the light bikes, except for the seat and they might not get me back to work on time LoL. Tenera top heavy but ez oil changes. KTM is nice, hopefully reliable after this many years. What do you think?

Question...been riding for 12 ish years 5,2" 140lbs already have 2 bikes (harley/bmw) want to get a third. Debating between the crf250l and ktm 690, I'm worried the 250l would honestly just be too boring for me? First "dirt" oriented bike but I can't shake that I would be wating my money on a 250l and should just jump to the ktm, but maybe the 250l would be adequate and I would love it! Any thoughts?

I'm 5'5" 145lbs and bought a 300L as my first ever bike. I looooove this bike, except for the slow highway speeds. I can do 75 with wide open throttle and lately have been contemplating a KTM 690 Enduro R, howEVER it's a really tall bike and I'm afraid not very rideable for me in the terrain I like to visit.

The CRF is like 310’lbs max. So you are talking about an over 30 lb difference
