We can all say we are from royalty the hardest part is doing the family tree to prove the connection. A lot of people don’t care about family history,l am interested and have been very fortunate to have had help in finding out who my great grandparents were.From them ,on my mother’s side ,I was able to trace back to Henry VII .

Just one mistake @ 7:40 ... Margaret Plantagenet was the YOUNGER sister of Elizabeth of York, not older. Elizabeth's whole deal was that she was the eldest daughter, and thus a heir of her fathers claim to the crown after both of her (younger) brothers disappeared ( the two famous young princes in the Tower). She was King Edwards eldest living child, and with no legitimate sons alive, she was considered by some to be his heir. That is the whole reason for her marriage to Henry VII, that is to say, the marriage merged the Yorkist and the Lancastrian claim to the throne, bringing an end to the Wars of the Roses. edit: I just realized It was I who made a mistake. I was thinking of one younger daughter of King Edward and Elizabeth Woodvile, but he had in fact an OLDER illegitimate daughter who married Baron Lumley. Altho Wikipedia calls that person Elizabeth, so that got me confused.

Shock horror - most ordinary people if they are from the same area will be related , but unless their ancestors were wealthy it just isn't recorded well enough. It would be extremely foolish to consider oneself superior to the aristocracy because one believes one comes from unrelated parents. It is more than likely a false assumption.

So I also descend from Mary Ball and Augustine Washington. So it is cool to see my line of descent from King Edward III but I do not kid myself that that is particularly special because a majority of people with substantial English heritage are descendants of King Edward III (or at least the first King Edward, I forget which Edward) - but the point is the tens of millions of people of English descent today shared probably no more than a few thousand ancestors from that time period. The ones whose lines continued and continued and continued and continued to have children....until we got here. Although for me to be connected to George Washington so (relatively) closely was a nice surprise...
