Hey Dan, I'm an old retired Mercer hand signed on in 1988 truck #2342. Got old and retired from Mercer in 2016. Mercer, back in the day was hands down the best flatbed company in the US. Been watching your videos for awhile now. Reminds me of my good times, bad times, great loads, nightmare loads and Mercer Town. I much prefer being retired and watching you do all the hard work. You are doing a great service for the newer younger guys wanting to do flatbed. My hats off to you.

I miss those days when I could do that kind of mechanic work on my own equipment. Trust me when I say getting old is not all it's cracked up to be. The mental capacity is there but the physical is not.

Or shall I say, failing to ride nearly all of them and, more often than not, doing a fantastic imitation of a lawn dart! I never thought I would see 77 years old. And now I wonder every year if I will see another spring. And frankly, so do my doctors. I'm still alert and conscious of my surroundings, but I tend to take more naps now than I used to. It just chaps my hide that I can no longer do the things I always liked, like mechanic work or general yard work. I now must get someone else to do those things for me and none of them do it the way I would if I could.😠

I rarely comment on your videos Dan even though I watch as many as I can. I love how you started this video with the music too (cool) and the walk around you did @6:37! Why? because the front of your truck is way ahead of the front of the truck parked next to you. Yet as you walked along side both trucks your rear wheels were level to his lol. It says ''A LOT'' for what you are driving! I see why you don't like those side lights but I wonder could they be replaced with L.E.D. lights? Less cost long term with better durability / lifespan. Maybe something to think about? Anyway, your truck looks great and it really is a home away from home and its very cool 👍

+ Distraction is what slows you down and causes mistakes , in these cases is it OK if you put up one of those temporary fabric gazipos over your work area , tie it down ; put down , washable rubber floor mats .. a small heater snow times … Balley would like that too … 🦴

Yeah, the chicken lights look good at night, but it's a pain to keep up. I finally started taking them off my KW back in the day. Parts costs are crazy. Still enjoying my spotter job. I did look at an old International 9300. Then I said not today.

You are at the dupuke Iowa john deere plant, also called PSL 👍. I used to get my skid steers loaded at that same outside dock. All my back hoes from the inside dock. WOW what a coincidence while watching your video.👍♥️

You need a marker like the junkyard uses to mark air lines. I used to just use #1 to #1 , #2 to #2 and so on especially when many lines are same size

Do you think that they would give you just a few more inches of clearance on that pull through with all of those posts. I would think it would be a lot easier on equipment just loading from the back of your truck as in backing up to a dock.

I recall Dan saying Mercer requires a truck inspection every six months. Likewise, they also require maintenance reports for everything he does on the truck. He has to stay current in order to book loads.
