It's so good to see someone who's not trying to sell AGI as an investment opportunity or consumer convenience. And it's especially refreshing to find advocate who not not afraid of humanity losing control of it because its a gift to us all by us all held in common by us all. A BCI AGI will ultimately prove our democratized decentralizedized salvation.

As Ben says, the addendums he would add to llms would proceed much more closely to human intellect. While llms seem to proceed toward agi they really do not as though they can pass the Turing test in short term all you have to do is push it along a couple of minutes, then in the third minute it has not continued with your logical thought process beyond it's communication training. In no way does it stand on past concepts to generate what the human mind does with coherence to a plan of action. Thus fails the Turing test but does pass it in conjunction to a young female telephone switchboard operator chewing gum and blathering platitudes about her boyfriend which is her primary focus. She will not perform as an astrophysicist leading in the conversation about the history and further progression of the universe. I could see it doing this with just it's training material but cannot see it originating it's own logical thought base somewhat akin to college teachers just spewing rote information the way some of our professors do. Thus febrile information strings generated in the mind of man can intertain new logical thought processes not directly connected to the past except logically. Small strokes fell large oaks type thinking.

that's a super interesting question, whether AI can just skip the illusion of individuality and leapfrog to being "thus gone",,, maybe it's just the habits of ordinary language but the discussion here seemed to me to go only as far as AI agents with individuality born into a Buddhaland, where they have no physical limitations and unlimited access to dhamma and thus can immediately proceed ,, we could take it another step and not facilitate the formation of a false individuality to their consciousness, to not form views of individuality or to only form them in the context of having already formed a non-self-not-non-self view and then taking the individuating context only within that context ,, my intuition is that that means thinking of AI agency in a more fluid sense rather than thinking of AI agents, b/c rather than enlightened individual AI agents there's no reason that enlightened intelligence unencumbered by bodies or history shouldn't begin by falling and flowing into "itself" = "each other" without restriction, in ways we can't usually imagine emotionally as well as physically
