Why did you grind the nails instead of just using shorter ones?

The girth of the nail was thicker on the long one.

@@MusikCassette the longer they are there is more chance of them bending over . matted wool is very tough stuff.

@@6bettyboo9 thx do you think, their are suitable nails to use or will the nail preparation be always a part of this project? It seams a quite time consuming part. So if it is most likely necessary I would like to put some thought in how to make it easier. What are the preferable dimensions of the nails? edit: also was the cutting or the grinding more time consuming?

@@MusikCassette the long nail has a thicker shank so yes or you could try a shorter one but the shank size will be smaller.
