Thanks, Hector. I've always like Mackey's Columbia recordings and it is frustrating that nothing much has been found in print about who the musicians are! Some record companies used to turn up the gain when recording a piano solo in a dance record. That doesn't happen here, though.

It seems that Columbia, both in America and Overseas, by the Viva-Tonal era at least, had a standard for waiting at least two months after recording to actually issue/release said record. Then you have cases like this where they won't even record both sides within the same month.
