6GR welding is the most difficult test in the history of welding

Restrictor ring is has to be on top (above) not bottom of groove, also the distance of ring max of 1/2" (12mm) from groove. The ring flange distance out from pipe should be at least 3" if I recall....or was it 6". So no this is not a AWS qualified 6GR

This 6GR test was one l did in 1989, it was a last min decision to have the flange in place, as I'd not practiced with a flange, passed all same.

So a basic 6g with a flange impedance. This isn’t the hardest. Try the coast guard 2”open butt if you want a real challenge. 😊

That looks like 7016. Not sure why you are whipping it like crazy, but at least its a video from your side of the world using a decent rod.

And the ring flat is separate 1/2 inch from the bevel no more and root pass is 7018 and gap is 5/32 sometimes 3/16

i remember doing this but the ring was on top and was only allowed 20 mm gap, single bevel at the bottom with schedule 80 and 120 at the top. 6 inch of course

6GR is a single bevel welded directly to the plate, with a root opening

Arc strikes outside of the allowable weld area are an IMMEDIATE FAIL. The weld area is not to exceed 1/16" outside of the bevels.

6gr Pipe on top is sch 80 no bevel. Pipe on bottom is sch 40. Resrictor ring is 1/2" from pipe. For strucutual

The restrictor plate should be on the top not the bottom.
