This video has made me realize how absolutely pathetic most of today’s rap culture is. Outside of the _actual_ artists- J Cole, Kendrick, etc- and people like Jay Z who are trying to teach the community about financial literacy, it’s a bunch of fuck-up’s who are all caught up in actively trying to do crime. Not escape it through the mobility that a rap career provides, but are running towards it with open arms. Then they say their lives are hard because of outside factors. Absolute goons and dolts.

TBH, It's much more than that. It's a whole subculture, positively reinforced by the rest of society (politics, media, prison industrial complex, etc)... You'd have to actually live it or see it to understand "the life" IMO.

you as a man living in the suburbs will never know what's its like for some of these artists, saying that lyrical rappers are the only real rappers is a crazy statement. take young thug for example, thug is out here investing in fashion, helping his own community and family but he couldnt take the hood out of him. we will never know the pressures and their way of life because we are living comfortable. do you seriously think talking about financial stability helps sell records?
