Markus, on the blackmagic there’s no need to cut the rubber covers, you can just slowly and carefully pull them out and store them and push them back in if you want them again

I didn't really comment on the last video because I figured it was a simple mistake; however, what needs to be pointed out is that "Cinema Cameras" typically do not process the image coming out of them in any major way. They do this so that the look can be controlled in a movies post production pipeline. 99% of the sharpening and contrast are processed elements the Sony, Samsung and dozens of other cameras footage are done to give those camera a predefined look for the consumer; however, while the Blackmagic camera's do have their own look their image has so much more information, particularly when it is shot in 12 bit RAW, that is has the ability to be made to look nearly identical to all those other cameras. While one can't change the edge sharpening in the Blackmagic camera it self, one can add a color matching LUT that can be baked onto the final footage if one wanted to. With that Said I agree 100% that if one doesn't want to deal with the hassle of LUTs and post production then one should find a camera that has a look they like, and use it.

Yes I know but its not something I and most of my followers don't want to have to do. Anyone can do great things with anything if they try hard enough, but this channel is about simplicity and ease of use.

@@MarkusPix I agree! These cameras are not for your use case! But it is not fair to be comparing colours out of the cameras side by side. I understand the point of you not wanting to do any unnecessary work, which I totally agree with. However, it is a bit like comparing apples and pears, and might throw some people off.
@kadmow
@kadmow 4 жыл бұрын
If that were truly the case none of the "cinema" cameras would output anything but a RAW log file... "Leave 100% of post production decisions to the production team" - etc, but they still (mostly) have a baked in set of export options - trying to be one size fits all... Horses for Courses - youtube is not "the big screen" - even there "studio requirements" are often "peer pressure driven" with some "techno snobbery"... lol.. Where else on youtube does a guy randomly give away a non sponsored BM...USSR....6k ? (jk) If someone wants to get into shooting and editing Video they can try colour grading the output of lesser cameras to see how they like the technical back end work, or pick a set of cameras which produce acceptable output to work with as is.

I think this his review of these cameras because they are marketed to consumers $2k or $4k for a body is not that much but you need the skills of pros to color grade the video I think that’s all he was saying about it

I LOVE how you say "1080p is fine for YT." You're right! Thank you, Markus. Yes, I'd like to pick up a used Samsung NS500, is that it? But for now, and for what I'm doing for YT my stupid Android cell phone or my Canon eos200 with a kit lens seems to be doing a fine job! I just have a wired lav mic. I really appreciate what you do here on YT.

Figure out your needs and budget, and these days something that can fit most peoples needs can be found for a very reasonable price. My niece thought she was going to need a $1000+ camera for her KZbin channel, but after learning what she was trying to do I helped her pick out a perfect, used & complete camera kit (body, lens, power solutions [batter/wall], and computer interface [For live streaming]) for right around $400.

Ive been shooting video professionally for almost 20 years ... the only camera I use these days in the Panasonic GH5 (I used 4 of them on most shoots). 100% reliable - can shoot all day at 4K with no problem. Cheap when compared to other cameras! Even though the GH5 is over 3 years old it still compares very favourably to newer cameras from other brands.

Don't know about you guys commenting here, but i have been following Markus channel for some time now, and find his content very inspirational. Have never been a photographer or anything close. Always bought compact cameras or superzoom ones. In other words - cheap stuff. But was always fond of good pictures. Some time ago decided to buy an entry level mirrorless camera. At that time only Canon m100 was on sale and got it. Did not know and still don't know what to with it, but after watching Markus' videos, decided to start experimenting and look for lenses. I know he is not particularly a Canon fan, but his own words are: Photography is to know what you doing with the camera you have. Happy New Year Markus and youtubers!

3:06 Super 35 sensor have not much in common with APS-C sized sensors. Although they are both smaller than FF 36 x 24 mm sensors. Super 35 and APS-C sensors have different aspect ratios, different width, height, and diagonal measurements. They both started with celluloid films -- in motion picture cameras and 35mm gauge still photo film cartridges.

Hey Markus, I've got a question for you that I don't think you've already done. Interior dialog recording. :) I'm still in the '90s with my boom arm cheap AT2035 and pop filter. In the recording chain, I use hardware for compressor/gate, eq, de-esser (old DBX rackmount stuff) then into a Behringer 404. I get pretty darn good results when the room is quiet and well treated but ambient noise is a b**tch and having a microphone on screen is no longer sexy. I've been thinking of going with a small condenser cardioid mic (or two - play with stereo). There is a huge range of price options out there and audio people are clearly insane. I've been looking at the Russian Oktava's because they are modular, maintainable and there are parts. BUT I have also been looking at the t.bones, Neewer, Behringer, and miscellaneous Chinesium. If you are willing to give up modular and maintainable you can get a stereo set for obscenely cheap. Reality check - I am a hobbyist, my budget is always constrained (not buying a von Neumann, Schoeps, or even a nice shure) I am using it to mic interior dialog Poorly to completely untreated rooms (ambient noise I would rather not record) On to the question. From your perspective; lightweight, small, transportable, going to get the job done reliably, record the sound faithfully or at least in an acceptably pleasing fashion what microphones do you like? :)
@Mr_G
@Mr_G 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert, I do audio stuff as a professional hobby and if you are interested we can chat about it. If you want good quality cardioid, then Oktava is pretty good choice, or Rode NT5 - the same price, but little bit less self noise. If you will ask what I would do? I would buy not expensive and low noise supercardioid shotgun mic, like Sennheiser MKE600 (because if you will record in untreated rooms, with cardioid mic you will have a lot of reverberation in the recording, and even after gate, which will cut it from the silent parts, you will have too much while talking). Then I would connect it directly to Behringer 404 - it has extremely low noise preamp, even if it is cheap audio interface. And then will denoise recording in digital domain on the PC (no gating - because you will hear it afterwards), then compression, EQ, etc. At the end will be perfectly good recording.

@@gwarlow not how it works at all. 6k is excellent for 4k delivery. And resolution has nothing to do with human eye, pixels per inch with distance calculations is the calculation you do to see more than human eye. If viewed on a phone then resolution doesn't matter as much but for TV larger than 50" 4k is crucial for a great detailed image and past 86" 8k is a must ( ofcourse depending on the distance from tv matters )

I wonder what you think of Sigma fp, because it seems quite unique
@MarkusPix
@MarkusPix 4 жыл бұрын
The Sigma FP is not a complete camera. No electronic viewfinder or mechanical shutter, the touchscreen is fixed, it has no hot shoe, but you can screw on on the side. Sigma L-lenses are clunky and big. No way of physically changing ISO, the dials only control shutter angle and aperture, with no option to reconfigure that. Flash sync is only 1/30 sec for JPG and 1/15 for RAW so high speed sync external flash is not even an option for real photography. And then there’s the L-mount, meaning expensive big heavy Leica lenses that are bigger than the camera. Sure monitors, hotshoes etc can be bolted on to it, by the time you add all that to the FP, it's bigger than a normal full frame camera.

I love your perspective and honesty! Your passion shines through. Im a bmpcc4k user, but purchased a sigma fp recently to do some experimenting with the medium format look- kipon released a medium format focal to achieve this look on full frame sensor! I havent seen much of this on youtube, ill post my results!

Really enjoy my a5100's (i have a bunch of them). Has all I need. I don't think anyone has ever noticed what camera I'm using for my channel. At least they haven't mentioned it. Always enjoy your shows and usually learn something I didn't know. Thanks

Thank you for sharing this behind the scenes info on these cameras. I’ve watched several reviews on these and you touched on several points about these cameras that no one else did which would be crucial for anyone to know before buying. Also, cant wait for you to trade that Z CAM for the fx6 and see a review about it. Thank you again for your honesty and generosity!

Watched till the end can u tell me if the Blackmagic BMPCC6K is Autofocus with the EF canon lenses ? as i like to set camera up and let it Autofocus or use like face dection as well i have experiance with 5dmk4 autofocus as was impressed with that one shooting 4k , but that is 29mins max filming i think and saidlly HDMI out is HD only if 5dmk4 was 4k hdmi out that be amazing and be best camera for me but its not so now looking at good camera for video unboxing and maybe film on the go as well 4k and 6k so can least upload content to 4k at least

Like I said, it has EF lens mount, therefore it is made for Canon EF lenses and yes it has autofocus therefore for those lenses and the autofocus sucks.

Good video Markus! I would still like to know why you opted for sony a7c and not a7siii? I am very curious to know what you think considering that your experience says a lot and has helped me personally.

I always come back to you Marcus because you’re entertaining and informative and fun. And a no BS kind of guy. Bottom line:if it works and gets the job done in an aesthetically pleasing fashion, it doesn’t really matter how much it cost. Keep on keeping on.

I love your videos and we’re from the same generation so I dig where you’re coming from. I’ve been doing this a long time. The black magic is for somebody who understands color science and can apply the proper color transforms. If not the image looks mediocre. But if you do it right it’s phenomenal.
