Markus, on the blackmagic there’s no need to cut the rubber covers, you can just slowly and carefully pull them out and store them and push them back in if you want them again
@billyoung95384 жыл бұрын
I didn't really comment on the last video because I figured it was a simple mistake; however, what needs to be pointed out is that "Cinema Cameras" typically do not process the image coming out of them in any major way. They do this so that the look can be controlled in a movies post production pipeline. 99% of the sharpening and contrast are processed elements the Sony, Samsung and dozens of other cameras footage are done to give those camera a predefined look for the consumer; however, while the Blackmagic camera's do have their own look their image has so much more information, particularly when it is shot in 12 bit RAW, that is has the ability to be made to look nearly identical to all those other cameras. While one can't change the edge sharpening in the Blackmagic camera it self, one can add a color matching LUT that can be baked onto the final footage if one wanted to. With that Said I agree 100% that if one doesn't want to deal with the hassle of LUTs and post production then one should find a camera that has a look they like, and use it.

@@MarkusPix I agree! These cameras are not for your use case! But it is not fair to be comparing colours out of the cameras side by side. I understand the point of you not wanting to do any unnecessary work, which I totally agree with. However, it is a bit like comparing apples and pears, and might throw some people off.
@kadmow4 жыл бұрын
If that were truly the case none of the "cinema" cameras would output anything but a RAW log file... "Leave 100% of post production decisions to the production team" - etc, but they still (mostly) have a baked in set of export options - trying to be one size fits all... Horses for Courses - youtube is not "the big screen" - even there "studio requirements" are often "peer pressure driven" with some "techno snobbery"... lol.. Where else on youtube does a guy randomly give away a non sponsored BM...USSR....6k ? (jk) If someone wants to get into shooting and editing Video they can try colour grading the output of lesser cameras to see how they like the technical back end work, or pick a set of cameras which produce acceptable output to work with as is.

Always bought compact cameras or superzoom ones. In other words - cheap stuff. But was always fond of good pictures. Some time ago decided to buy an entry level mirrorless camera. Hey Markus, I've got a question for you that I don't think you've already done. Interior dialog recording. :) I'm still in the '90s with my boom arm cheap AT2035 and pop filter. In the recording chain, I use hardware for compressor/gate, eq, de-esser (old DBX rackmount stuff) then into a Behringer 404. I get pretty darn good results when the room is quiet and well treated but ambient noise is a b**tch and having a microphone on screen is no longer sexy. I've been thinking of going with a small condenser cardioid mic (or two - play with stereo). There is a huge range of price options out there and audio people are clearly insane. I've been looking at the Russian Oktava's because they are modular, maintainable and there are parts. BUT I have also been looking at the t.bones, Neewer, Behringer, and miscellaneous Chinesium. If you are willing to give up modular and maintainable you can get a stereo set for obscenely cheap. Reality check - I am a hobbyist, my budget is always constrained (not buying a von Neumann, Schoeps, or even a nice shure) I am using it to mic interior dialog Poorly to completely untreated rooms (ambient noise I would rather not record) On to the question. From your perspective; lightweight, small, transportable, going to get the job done reliably, record the sound faithfully or at least in an acceptably pleasing fashion what microphones do you like? :)
@Mr_G4 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert, I do audio stuff as a professional hobby and if you are interested we can chat about it. If you want good quality cardioid, then Oktava is pretty good choice, or Rode NT5 - the same price, but little bit less self noise. If you will ask what I would do? I would buy not expensive and low noise supercardioid shotgun mic, like Sennheiser MKE600 (because if you will record in untreated rooms, with cardioid mic you will have a lot of reverberation in the recording, and even after gate, which will cut it from the silent parts, you will have too much while talking). Then I would connect it directly to Behringer 404 - it has extremely low noise preamp, even if it is cheap audio interface. And then will denoise recording in digital domain on the PC (no gating - because you will hear it afterwards), then compression, EQ, etc. At the end will be perfectly good recording.
@robertfontaine36504 жыл бұрын
@@Mr_G Thanks. I have been doing so much live broadcasting this year that I completely missed capturing the actual signal and doing it better in post. (Just started playing). @@gwarlow not how it works at all. 6k is excellent for 4k delivery. @MarkusPix4 жыл бұрын
The Sigma FP is not a complete camera. No electronic viewfinder or mechanical shutter, the touchscreen is fixed, it has no hot shoe, but you can screw on on the side. Sigma L-lenses are clunky and big. No way of physically changing ISO, the dials only control shutter angle and aperture, with no option to reconfigure that. Flash sync is only 1/30 sec for JPG and 1/15 for RAW so high speed sync external flash is not even an option for real photography. And then there’s the L-mount, meaning expensive big heavy Leica lenses that are bigger than the camera. Sure monitors, hotshoes etc can be bolted on to it, by the time you add all that to the FP, it's bigger than a normal full frame camera.

I love your videos and we’re from the same generation so I dig where you’re coming from. I’ve been doing this a long time. The black magic is for somebody who understands color science and can apply the proper color transforms. If not the image looks mediocre. But if you do it right it’s phenomenal.
