just FYI to everyone: even if you have a 1080p screen you can still spot a difference between 4k and 8k because the bitrate is much higher for 8k :)
@masprassaja38184 жыл бұрын
my internet speed not agree with that.
@BleedForTheWorld4 жыл бұрын
It's a small difference but you get shimmering effects because KZbin player is unable to filter the extra pixels and/or depending on how the monitor handles resolutions that are higher than its native resolution. I think this is why you would need a proper 8K television/monitor to view 8K footage in an optimal manner.
@dota2tournamentss4 жыл бұрын
@@BleedForTheWorld I have 4k and 1080p displays and you can see shimmering effects on both if you didn't enable full screen and ofc the best visual experience you will get with 8k native screen but not so many people have them at least now (hello people form 2030)

Greetings from Canada......I have always used a 4:3 monitors in my work/home environments, and I have to say that this video is absolutely stunning. I love seeing what we normally miss -- the lights and the street. It really feels like a walk through the streets of Japan. Keep up the good work with your magnificent videos, it's a glimpse (for us) into another culture -- and your videos have been especially important during our current situation. Many thanks!

The 4:3 aspect ratio really opens up the frame, feels more cinematic, while still feeling like an causal 'walk along'. i definitely get a better sense of things above and below. Like the lights are really passing above me. Definitely would like to see more of these kinds for films mixed in with your other 16:9 films. Keep up the great work!

6K HDR? Ramba is BECOMING STRONGER?? This makes me wish I had an HDR monitor haha. Maybe it's in my brain but the colour grading seems a little different to me, I'm not used to it yet :p 60fps vs 30fps makes a big difference but this looks so real, if it had a higher frame rate it would geniunely be like a window

this is probably the closest to the real thing, the main difference between this and the 4k version is how realistic the colors and shadows are like on the 6k version, you can see how the lights reflect smoothly on the ground and walls . the 4k is super sharp but color accuracy isn't as good as 6k looks so good even on a 1080p monitor it's like watching a movie or a music video. 30fps hurt my eyes when there's motion tho :D
@exer2k4 жыл бұрын
This is a bit long one, but here are my two cents (tl;dr@end): - While there is not much improvement from the resolution upgrade when watched on < 6K, there seems to be less sensor noise on the 6K video, so it looks just a tad sharper. - HDR really makes the difference in color and contrast, but it takes away some of the vibrance. It makes the image and the experience "truer", while non-HDR looks more saturated. Personally, I prefer truthfulness over catchiness. - Aspect ratio might be an issue for some viewers. Personally, I'm ok with it. It brings more picture into the frame. - The biggest flaw is certainly the framerate. Huge difference there, and I'd always prefer 60fps to 30fps, even if it means there's a resolution drop. Higher fps == less motion blur == smoother video == more immersive experience. So, should you shoot videos this way? Well, that's on you to decide. Most of the viewers don't have > 4K equipment to watch this on (in fact, I'm guessing 4K is still somewhat of a luxury), so right now it is an overkill. However, capturing Japan as it was in 2020 in higher res would mean a lot ten years from now, when equipment gets a bit more affordable. Plus, you get to be a pioneer and lead the way in walking videos. But the question is would someone *now* wait that long just to see more pixels from the past? I think most viewers watch these videos for the experience of being able to feel like they're walking in Japan, so more logical step forward would be VR. While it is still a new technology and most people don't have the equipment (as with 4K+ screens) and, as you said in your Q&A, the VR would par 4K only if you shoot a 12K 360° video, it is still a greater leap forward when it comes to walking videos than what > 4K video would bring. tl;dr: Shoot 4K+ only if *you* want to; the improvements are subtle for most viewers, except for HDR. 360° video would provide better experience.

my computer and internet can tell the difference 🤣 but also...it's not widescreen, and the colors seem more washed out? but I realize it's a night scene. maybe try it in a daylight nature setting to unlock full 6K potential? Does your aperture limit change with 6K? Also you say 6K...but KZbin proclaims it as 8K? So...what i'm saying is..."I'm not sure!".

I watched this on my HDR TV and HDR made a huge difference for lights and signage. When I went to your previous video linked in the description the difference was surprising. The SDR video looked like it had very little contrast, with bright indoor areas being full of clipped highlights, and dark outdoors crushing the black detail in the sky. HDR gave a more authentic representation of what the city looks like. The only problem with HDR video is youtube's tonemapping if you're watching on a regular display. I watched this HDR video now without HDR enabled and it's murky and ugly. You get most of the detail, but it comes at a cost. If most of your viewers are using standard displays, then it's probably correct to prioritize 60fps 4k without HDR. But I wouldn't mind if you did HDR videos now and then as well! I'm sure those with TVs, monitors or phones with HDR would appreciate it. I sure do anyway.
