Saw these beauties pull into Tampa at midnight Friday morning. They were so amazing up close and going by slowly. Gave me goosebumps to see such amazing engines. Love what they did with these.

These paint schemes, particularly on 911, look pretty. I also like the idea that CSX seems to become a little bit more aware of public interest. Nonetheless, I'm somewhat surprised by the hype and hysteria about these engines as NS's heritage and specialty units have already traveled the same areas for many years.

WOW, WOW, WOW, MB great job, the one thing that could have made this better, if those two units were pulling a military train. Makes me proud to be a First Responder though, professional Fire Fighter for 21 years, my son has been on the job for 2 years now. He graduated college from UTK and I said, so now what and he said "I think I wanna be a fireman" and I said, so you wanna be poor the rest of your life and he said, "YEP" , I couldn't be any prouder.
@mbmars015 жыл бұрын
Yea, that would have been particularly special - I'll work on it lol. I like what you said and highly appreciate your service. What would we all be without the first responders...! I have a nice story to tell. Before I caught the NS 911 "First Responders" unit last year leading a CSX train, I was ID checked by a cop, because he understandably wondered what I was doing near a railroad track at 5am. When I told him what I was waiting for he got interested and wanted to see it himself. He even turned on all his interceptor lights for me as it was still rather dark. After the train had gone through he thanked me enthusiastically as he felt somewhat touched to be honored as a first responder by this railroad theme and he was happy to have had the chance to see it. He was a very nice guy.

I have been in Kennesaw several times, but - shame on me - have not yet visited the civil war museum. I know the entire story of the "Great Chase", of course, and I'm very much interested in American History. On my railfan excursion to Chattanooga in 2016 I visited several battlefields in the area and learned the history. I spent 6 hours exploring the Chickamauga battlefield. I really like traveling in Georgia and the neighbor states, but I do not like the Atlanta traffic. It's horrible at times.

Good morning! Thanks for another GREAT video! I wanted to ask about K449. I live just 20 miles South of Pelzer SC & am wondering about the destination of the ethanol cars. I know there is a power generation plant near, & also a gasoline fuel Depot, (which I know has underground pipelines). Are either of these the consumer? Also, I'm pretty sure CSX does not service Pelzer, & am thinking they must hand off to Greenville & Western RR.
@mbmars015 жыл бұрын
Thank you! So here's how it seems to work: The final destination of K449 is probably Belton, SC. Although it looks like CSX does have trackage rights on the Greenville & Western (GRLW) to Belton, they might interchange with GRLW in Pelzer and the actual delivery is performed by GRLW.

Just wondering what the very large cable between the lights on the Locomotives, it must be a high power D.C. cable maybe hooking batteries from the Generator to the drive motors just curious about it. I heard that the battery voltage from the Diesel Engine max of 1000 volts. Do they use big SCR's to control the movement of the Locomotive. I have worked on UPS's for computer systems 100's of amps used. They use big Monster SCR's for control of the outputs. 480, 3 phase AC.

Hi. New sub and new to rail fanning. Would I be able to catch this one in Birmingham, Alabama? Or does it run thru Birmingham, AL ? How would I go about finding out ? I loved trains as a kid but have absolutely no clue how to catch them and when they are coming. Back in the early 90’s an old steam locomotive used to come through here every October and I caught it because I could hear that awesome whistle coming from far away! Thanks to anyone who might can help me.

Yes, CSX serves Birmingham and these engines might actually already have been there. Not sure. The best is to join a Facebook group that covers the area in which you live (I think there's a group called B.A.R. for the Birmingham area). Was that horn? sounds like a rs5t :p
@bradley.reim225 жыл бұрын
Yes It Is. CSX Tried To Save Money After Trying to get horns From units In Waycross. CSX Doesn't Have That Much Leslie Horns On there units. One way you can tell it either is and RS5t is that it sounds like a Cargo Boat, and it's xConrail Unit. Mostly xCR Dash 8's Had The RS5T But When CSX Got It They Changes Most Horns. 911 & 1776 Most Likely Got There RS5T's From Waycross Or an xC&O/xB&O SD Unit
@bradley.reim225 жыл бұрын
If you dont speak much english here is a translation Sí lo es.
