Josh, I enjoyed your 6 month review of the Google Nest Mini very much. I have 4 of them myself, and like you, I am constantly changing their location in my apartment as I think of better ways to use my Google devices. Yesterday for the first time, I paired two of them in my bedroom. It will be an interesting experiment to see how that works. Just like you, I have placed my other two Nest Minis in my two bathrooms. Great video as always. Really like the way you present yourself and the products. Btw, I have subpar experience on my Nest Mini compared to my Home Mini. I am renting a room at my workplace. I got both Home Mini and Nest Mini as my Christmas present, so I have it them in the same room. Nest Mini definitely have better sound quality but it is less sensitive to the key word for trigger. More oftern, my Home Mini response to me rather than my Nest Mini. The Ultrasound sensing doesn't work on me consistently too. Mostly not responding to me when my hands go near by but it will respond to me when I clap my hands, this is weird.

Sound quality: Google Nest Mini vs Google Home? Most reviews compare Nest Mini to Home Mini, but the latter was never meant to sound well. As I write this, older Home can easily be found for under $50 - just like the new Nest Mini. Yet, it's almost impossible to find a decent comparison.

I like your review series very much, but have a suggestion about the audio clips you use for sound comparisons. They're so noisy and muddled and cluttered that all the devices end up sounding so bad that I find these sound comparisons useless. I do audio work, and when comparing sound quality I like to use clips that aren't cluttered, but instead have distinct sounds like piano keys or guitar cords. I think the moments of silence between sounds are important (your clips are continuous sounds). To compare speakers, I'd add some discrete bass noted such as on a drum or a bass guitar.

Hi Josh, I'm looking for best practices to use Google Nest mini (and other Google Nest audio devices) in combination with my iPhone en iPad. I'm not sure if it works as well as it does with Android devices. One of the things I've noticed is that when I play KZbin videos from my iPad and stream the audio (via bluetooth) to my Nest Mini, there's a slight delay. This is an issue I don't have with other bluetooth audio devices, but that may just be a software issue... Anyway, if you have tips, I'd be more than interested. I couldn't find much on the net. Thank you!

I work in a shop with a guy who plays classic rock on one of these things all day for the last year. This tin foil speaker sounds absolutely terrible. Any time an electric guitar is leading a piece, it sound likes screeching and tearing noises. Want to find out how bad music can sound? This speaker will show you. There is a reason for all the comments of people getting it for free. The quality is shit, and it just sucks you farther into Google's web of manipulating everybody.

You forgot to mention one of the worst things, you can't tell it to play a particular song and you can only tell it to skip a song a certain number of times. Unless you pay for a subscription. And it will constantly remind you that you need a subscription to mute the stupid ads saying to get a subscription.

Thats only a limitation of using a free tier of a music streaming service. This is a feature of the music streaming service not necessarily of the device itself. But paying for a music streaming it will get rid of the ads, or you can try linking a different service in music settings in the Google Home app.
