7:10 WTF they brought this back on the nest mini, i thought they deliberately disabled it on the home mini because it was awkward or something ,so do they plan on bringing this back on the home mini now with a FW update? it already has the hardware to do so why would they not re-enable it and why did they change their mind about this in the 1st place, i can never make any sense of Google nonsensical decisions

I have a problem with my google home mini and it won’t respond the to ok or hey google. None of the features work like connecting or the mute button. I tried the reset button but it only shows a green light when I press and hold the lights. Do you know what to do about this?

@@carsonlee7554 well you should google "google home mini FW bricking some devices" i read that a FW update is bricking a lot of google home minis i also read that Google does not plan on replacing the units they destroyed and made inoperable with their borked FW update , so there is that but you can try doing a factory data reset 1st there is a hidden button under the rubber pad you need to hod it in for like 10 seconds or something to factory reset the device , if that does not fix it then it is most likely bricked

I loved how you demonstrated the increased bass on the new one! I've watched a couple other comparison videos, and they played a song on one and then played it again on the other, and the viewer had to try to remember how it had sounded previously. I always get more from your videos than any others I watch. The level of detail you provide in terms of setup and going through the app and noting the settings that are important puts you far and above most of the other basic highlight style reviews. I was actually in a Best Buy today debating on whether I should get the Nest Mini or the Nest Audio to replace/add-to my existing 1st gen Mini. If they had had the Audio in charcoal I might have gone ahead and bought it. I took that lack of stock as a sign to do some more research so I came home and pulled up this video. About 2/3rds of the way through, I knew what I was going to do, so I put my coat back on and went back and bought the Mini (which they did have in charcoal). Then I came back and re-watched and followed along as you went through your setup. So, thank you for your level of detail. I know it must take a lot of work on your part. As much as I think the Audio would be much cooler, the Mini will do everything I need it to do, and I just don't stream music that much at home. Away from home, all the time. At home, not so much. I feel like that would be the prevailing reason for having an Audio. Who knows, though... I've never had smart speakers ready to play my Spotify playlists upon request. My needs may change. But, right now, the tech budget hands are saying that $30 feels better than $100 for the same basic functionality.

Definitely hard to hear through the phone and it is hard to replicate. It is the same size of speaker so not much of a huge change but you can definitely tell the sound is more full.

Hi Brett when altering the volume you can say "hey google turn the volume down to 10%" and it should turn it down without touching it. This is in reference to your daughters room and when your hand comes close so the mini lights up. Just another option instead of looking for the mini in a dark room.

Sadly, Google has not made their speakers compatible with a TV sound system. The only device that has worked is the Google Home Max because it had a headphone jack, but it is not available anymore.

4:44 i get stock, with a error and i can't move on. The error is something like this: "An error occurred while retrieving the necessary Google Assistant permissions" I have tried 2 times with a reset to factory settings no luck, did also remove Google Home and removed cache data. And I did have the "Web and app activity" thing set to "on" in the google account settings, and I really hate that thing "on". But yet again, still no luck for me to move forward from. (Before using your Google Assistent) Any one who can help me out?

Ken Howard I haven’t been able to. So I had to make a change to my setup. Before I had a regular home in both my kitchen and living room but the nest mini is really what I need for my bathroom ( I made a special case for it to repel steam). My kitchen now has a hub and my living room has the regular homes paired up. I would probably have been easier to purchase another nest mini but I had all the devices on beforehand.

Alexa wins for this functionality currently. I have both and like that Smartthings integration. Smartthings works with Google but just doesn't have the speech that you can customize when a smartthings rule or routine fires.

Great, Google keep giving us pointless features most people will never use but keep ignoring the features most people actually want. Like the ability to give your machine a custom name instead of always having to say 'Hey Google' or 'Ok Google'. Also the ability to prevent Google from constantly repeating your requests once it's accomplished a task is still not there. I really hate the way it tells me that the lights that I just asked it to turn off are now off (or that it's turning them off). I've had to put my units into constant night mode because I'm sick of it repeating everything. Which means I can't ask it questions I actually would like answers to because it's constantly muted. So basically it's only roll in my house is to switch lights on and off... which it does very well. Awesome video though Brett :)

This function is not possible. The Chromecast can only play video audio through the TV.

Currently I use Alexa devices because the drop in feature is invaluable while caring for elderly family members. No action is required or their part for the call to go through. Does the google system have a similar feature?

They are not ment for the bathroom. I have heard so have had no issues but others have. There are some water resistant devices from the JBL Link line that might be better.

HELP NEEDED. Hi All! We have 3 Home Mini's, which we've been using for over 2 years now. Since late June my Huawei P30 Pro lost all casting functionality and features to inact with the Mini, unless I use VLC (with no volume functions). Been trying to find answers online, but no luck. My wife's iPhone and brother's Samsung works perfectly. I think I just answered my own question 😳😭
