I couldn't agree more. I buy older cars at their peak depreciation. I don't need all the bells & whistles... I'd rather have simple and reliable. It's too bad cash for clunkers took so many off of the road.

I will most likely never touch an American car from the mid 2000s and up because the newwrt cars I have owned have been the quickest to give up on me I got an 89 grand marquis and only had the starter solenoid replaced and it still runs like new after a year of me driving it

@lillebrorsanvincent2017 Yup, I had the 4 cylinder 98' coupe a few years back, got it when it had under 50k used at 4yrs old. Transmission gave up then engine developed massive oil leak. Drove it to the junk yard avoiding 2nd gear. Great handling car, interior was still in great shape, sun faded roof (southwest car) but hardly could tell with it being silver. Kind of wish I still had it.

Even rarer is the Legend's British step brother, the Sterling 825 and 827. I drove a 91 sterling 827sl for several years. The transmission was acting up so I rigged up some switches to manually change gears. That worked for a a while until it finally wouldnt shift to third gear.

This was a really unique restoration, my favorite thing about this project is how you approached it with a logical and sensible outlook to all of its issues and found solutions fairly easily. In high school, around 2002-2004, i knew 2 people that drove a 86, and 88 legend. Both teens. They bought it for 1200, 1500. There was no value in these during that time, but i know its very decent when new. Nice to see one restored.

@6thGearGarage during my high school years in 02-04 when i drove, my classmate bought a 93 acura legend for 3k, i bought a 92 camry for 3k. A 90 accord was around 1800., eg civics were going for 2000. I wonder why the acuras didnt hold its value that much when it got older.

Outstanding work!!! I was in my first year of college when these came out. Although they appear like a luxury version of the 89 Accord SEi, the 1st gen Legend had some major bling to it back in the 80s. Love old school Acuras.

Many think they were an accord with nicer body panels and options, but the legend was a complete different chassis. Only a little bit wider but about a foot longer. Definitely a lot heavier and more solid… extremely underrated cars in their time!

A close childhood friend had a legend with 360k miles on it. It was dark blue with a stick shift. My buddy drove it like a lunatic highschooler who's favorite movie was fast and furious part 1, but it still drove like a charm🤣.. The crazy thing was somebody stole it and crashed it and it was totalled out. Great work with the car though, your craftsmanship is incredible

I remember seeing these in the showrooms as i went to buy my 1987 Integra. They were 19 to 22k at the time. I drove mine for 9 years. I wish i would have put money into my car to update it instead of buying a newer car. The 80s Acuras were beautiful cars.

My family had one in the 90's. The electronic equalizer and mixer was sick back in the days! It was in pearl white. We drove it very little and upgraded to the next generation Legend after only a year or so!

Never drove one, but always like the Legend. I was around when they first debuted, and they were neat to see. Great name, and impressive (I imagine) car for its time. Acura made a mistake by going away from actual names on their cars. I lost track once they started going to letters/numbers as names. I recall these Legends, and the next generation of them. @@LAJAP 100% The 80's Hondas were still pretty cluttered with vacuum lines. The early-mid 90's (OBD1) were my favorite because a few sensors replaced a lot of vac lines and emissions were still simple. Not to mention moving from PGM-FI to MPFI, and variable valve timing. All the good stuff in a simple package... a true golden era.

@@6thGearGarage I got the short end of the stick with those vacuum lines, I know exactly what you're talking about. This Mitsubishi Lancer (Dodge Colt in the US) is a carburettor version, and it is taking me ages to find why it hardstarts when hot.

Freaking SUPERMAN!!! This was the IT car back in the day. The ‘95 2-Door was my favorite, but I knew people who put 400k miles on these things…..had a 96 Acura TL 2.5. Got totaled by an old lady with 289k miles on it…I always wonder.

I've owned a few Hondas/Acuras over the years, but this was my first legend. I have always loved the 2nd gen coupes with the 6-speed manual.

Exciting! Love the ending! You are fortunate that there was no rust to deal with. I am still working on a less expensive solution for that on my other vehicle. Great job and love the Persian red color!

Living in Ohio, this was the first vehicle I've restored that did NOT have rust. I need to start buying projects from down south/out west!
