Just for those wondering why it sat for 22 years. The owner originally bought the vehicle in black but when he took it in for an oil change one of the workers at the shop took it for a joy ride and totaled it. After being reimbursed the owner went and bought this one to replace it. However after a few years of driving it, his insurance skyrocketed to $700/month. Back in ~1996 that was just way too much to spend so he decided to let it sit for a bit. However, a bit turned into a lot longer than expected when life took over. Check out the road and track article if you’re interested:

I dunno how accurate this is. The original inspection stickers are still on the car, expired in 1993. They would stand out to an eager State Trooper up there if he was putting miles on it until 1996.
@kbf50376 ай бұрын
The dates are not accurate as I’m not the owner but a family friend and my husband can be seen in the video in the back when the owner first walks in to see the car revealed. 1996 was just a year that I threw out there knowing that he drove it for a bit before having to park it due to the insurance increase. 31+ years ago is a long time to remember exact dates even for the owner. He didn’t update insurance or get it inspected after 1993. But needless to say he had the car for ~2 years before having to “park” it for insurance purposes.

As a former mechanic I highly recommend removing the fuel pump fuse before hooking up a jump box like this. Turning the key to the on position causes the fuel pump to prime, sucking up all that nasty old fuel and bacteria that's been sitting in the tank. Doing what the video shows could clog the fuel pickup, contaminate the lines, and clog the injectors at startup.

Very good advice! A modern engine would definitely be shot! Honda/Acura 90's engines are on a different level though. My brother once drove from Tampa to Miami in his 98 Civic without cooling fluid (the mechanic forgot to put new fluid in after draining the old one) and the car was still going and intact afterwards. He put another 40k miles on it with no issues before selling it. Japanese cars from the 80's/ 90's were awesome.

I might be getting my history wrong (so forgive me) but this car wasn't simply driven by Senna with him being a marketing tool. I'm pretty sure Honda, in their desire to create the first true Japanese supercar, employed Senna (one of the best F1 drivers of all time, and the best of his generation) to consult on the build. He had actual input in the design and mechanics of the NSX and even did test driving to help them dial in some of the cars features, it's why it was such an amazing car for it's time, they had more than just mechanical/aerodynamic/automotive engineers working on the car - they delivered something truly special that also didn't cost like a Lambo or Ferrari at the time but could keep pace. Special car for the era.
