At 6:45 there is haze of the applied paints clearly visible on the doors. They may get off most of the graffiti paint but paper towels are not the best choice of materials for final removal.

Great video! Thank you! Our 95 chevy truck was stolen and recovered. It was green and they spray painted it white. Alot of yhe protective coating was already peeling before they painted it. We want to paint it with bed liner but need to prep first. Should we use the prep spray to get the spray paint off? Its ok if it removes the other paint or ckear coat because we want to paint it anyway. Thank you!!

The prep spray should do, but it's going to be expensive to buy all those cans. You'll need to scuff up the surface with sand paper to get a good bond with the bed liner. What about just sanding the white paint off with a DA and some 180 grit and take care of both steps at once.

Don't use paper towels! Microfiber towels won't scratch the paint while you're removing the graffiti

Does butter wet wax just do the entire job on its own? Looks like you can forgo putting anything on at all, and the butter wet wax also waxes it, right?

I need your help again, I needed to touch up some paint of my Tacoma, inside the cab door sills were wearing from previous owner dragging his foot. Well it’s like 30 degrees where I’m at. Had a garage for 12 hours to do this but had to park my truck under a carport now. My question is would the paint be ok if it’s too cold out? It’s inside the cab, I put three coats of touch up and 3 coats of clear coat. The weatherstripping is touching the paint tho. The paint is dry to the touch at this moment. Was wondering if it’ll ever completely dry in this cold. It’s the same Duplicolor touch up you used. Thank you always for your help. Edit- well I I went out and looked at it and it’s not looking good, it’s not dripping but it looks cloudy and blotchy. So I guess I’m going to have to redo it once the weather gets warmer. My question is could I just paint over that even if the touch up paint is damaged? Just lightly sand it so the paint will stick and just paint over it once the weather is warm?

Yeah you should be fine lightly scuffing it first. I would wait until 65° F or warmer.

Yes the lacquer should remove easily.

How do you know if it's enamel paint or the other? My car got vandalized in the middle of the night and I don't know what type of paint was used

The only way to know for sure is to test the removal products on the paint and see what takes it off. I'd start with trying the gas and see how it does.

I had some body work done on my car and days later I noticed they got a different color over=spray on my plastic headlight covers and some on my flat black grill. For the life of me I can't get it off. I tried the product ""GOOF-OFF" made specifically for over-spray. Didn't work AT ALL,,,,,,not even a little bit. I don't want to bring it back to the body shop because they do good work and I don't want to pizz them off. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! any suggestions.

I would ask them what type of paint was used, then you can find out the type of thinner to remove that paint. If it was urethane, then it''s gonna be tough to remove. In reality though, they should have masked off to begin with, so I don't think they should be pissed that they did a sloppy job. I'd take it back.

The over-spray isn't even the color of my car so they must nave been doing another car near mine. my car is black and the over spray specks are white or off white@@6thGearGarage

Urethane aerosol usually starts around $30/can, so people usually only buy it when they really need it for professional work. I don't know of anything that will remove it that won't also harm the paint underneath. Your only chance might be scraping it off if they did not properly clean/prep the original surface before applying. Otherwise you're looking at paint stripper or sand paper.

I have the same Ford Edge year and model giving me codes 0430 and 0420 cat converter below threshold would you replace your cats?

this one also had 0430. One of the coils was producing weak spark, so the fuel from that cyl wasn't burning completely, running slightly rich and it ruined the cat. I bought a replacement cat/manifold to fix, but the waterpump failed before I could fix it. When the waterpump failed on the highway, it mixed coolant with oil and the engine is bad now.

The gas will remove lacquer spray paint with ease, but not the factory urethane paint.

If the spray paint is over bare metal, then the products will work the same to remove the spray paint. If the spray paint is over primer, then some of these products could remove the primer, depending on the type of primer. I would test in a small area first, especially if the primer came from an aerosol can.

Then test in a small area first to be sure it does not remove the paint. If it was an acrylic/urethane it might be OK, but if it was an aerosol it may remove the paint.

Not at all helpful if the paint wasnt sprayed on 5 minutes before taking it off, even with the heat gun that paint hasnt cured enough to be stuck in the pores of the clearcoat. Paper towels to remove are a no go, alot of time and paint correction goes into fixing something like that.

Fresh paint is COMPLETELY different than cured paint that has been on your car for a period of time, really not a fair demonstration

The difference is the type of paint. Many people don’t realize that the chemicals that remove common lacquer and enamel paints won’t harm urethane/2k clear that comes on modern vehicles from the manufacturer.

That does make a difference, but spraying it on your car and then removing it 5 minutes later is night and day v. a car sitting in the elements for some period. @@6thGearGarage
