Let's all list our "fantasy truck". Mine would be a M818 with a Detroit 6-71 swapped in and a Mack "B model" cab grafted on! A winch and 16X20 tires would set it off nice. Maybe painted satin black. Whata ya think?
@redneck3848 Жыл бұрын
I have a Detroit 6.71 I was thinking about putting it into my m54 and taking out the Continental 66 r22 gas how are you liking that Detroit I also have a Cummins 6 5.9 first-gen trying to decide which one to put in the truck

one bad-ass rig! don't know why you wouldn't have lockers in it though. even if none are available, you could always fab up an air locker. also, my son wants to know why there are 23 dislikes?
@Slim_Slid4 жыл бұрын
You can't put a ARP Air Locker on a M812-M820 though.The five ton trucks like them,the M51-M62,or M923-M943/M923A1-M945A1/M923A2-M943A2 are stuck with using the mechanical Detroit lockers.And they do actually have lockers,all Military 6×6's do,they have them in the rear axles,but the front axle is limited slip only.On the two and a half ton deuces like the M35A2-M756A2,they can have air lockers,but only them,no other truck however.

Being a proud American, two things if I may, that dude was lucky to get through that muck and, from what I have seen of Russian trucks, a Russian truck would have mobbed through that same muck even if it was made to pull another dead Russian truck behind it. Meh, my two cents, take it or leave it. ;)

yeaa he does need to learn to shift it ... with all conditions at all times the best idea is to chain up first then winch if all else fails ,.....rain, snow , ice mud rock`s or a mix with chains ,the whole game changes....thing is that the tires on older US military were for all of the above ,and could be replaced for 20 buck `s ..or aired down for sand /? ,...but a basic, mud, rock , tire with a ridge to ride down the road on for fuel savings,.....not these tires,, but they could also be chained up and walk right outa this swamp ed road for sure..or fronts only ,that works for most rigs..how bullet proof were the old school 6x6 tires ? ? ?.. 308 cal. proof shoot 1 and see ...
@MYTOYMAKERZ9 жыл бұрын
Chains on its tires would just have dugs holes to bury each tire in. Sometimes to aggressive tread on tires in some types of mud can be your worst enemy. His issue was the lack of lockers. I own a Duce and half with super singles lockers on each axle and it would have walked through this type of mud. It's all about knowing your truck also - the right gear - right RPM - and how to shift it. I live in Alaska my cabin is almost 6 miles from the closest rd. Our driveway is just an old logging rd. that has all types of terrain & I have learned unless I am on ice leave the chains off. In the winter time I have to use our snow cat to go any where the snow at times is over six feet deep so my Duce stays in our pole barn. Thank You

You try driving a 20,000lb truck in mud with no weight on the rear axles. No truck can simply drive through a mud pool without getting stuck for a bit.
