I'm having a very similar issue. With my 2002 with 221k miles. Changed ipr with ford kit still nothing.. replaced camshaft position sensor still nothing. Haven't changed icp I see it's a little wet in back of the plug but icp is reading 2300 psi while turning over.

Good video. Gives me a couple more things to look at. have had a problem last year. Replaced the batteries, wiring to the starter, cps, cleaned up the grounds, checked the glow plug relay, test light on the glow plug harness, checked the clutch safety switch, checked the fuses and relays, hpop, ipr, finally replaced the pcm relay and it started...ran about 5 months and I'm starting all over again

I didn't happen to hear you comment, or see dash display, but do you recall if you also had a no wait to start check engine light, along with no tach movement, (my fuses are all good/15a fuel peheater).

Actually I did have a wait to start light, and I did see some tach movement.

I took my ipr valve yesterday for small nut that holds the sleeve I used a 19mm and for big nut that's mates to the port hole I used a 29 mm. Disconnect the 2 ground batteries terminal wires first.
@2020HotShotTruckingLLC3 жыл бұрын
If your scan tool can look at live data, you could have monitored the ICP while cranking. Once you saw it had the minimum starting pressure you could have looked at the CPS. On the side of the road without a scan tool, you can remove the ICP sensor and crank it. No oil and it's the IPR stuck.
@nightmar40563 жыл бұрын
I took off the icp and tried. Crank but no start . I’m starting to think it is the ipr

Good video..im having an issue with a 99..in the mornings it runs fine as long as i drive 40 50 mph...as soon as it would get warmed up it starts skipping..would shut off as if u turn the key off..would let sit for a couple of mins and fired right up...engine light would come on when it skips...after restart its off..what u think can be my problem? Thank u sir

If I recall the tach bounce may depend on the year of the truck.
@dsruddell5 жыл бұрын
i think the 02-03 dash tach may still work even though the CPS is good. 99-01 trucks tachs should always bounce if CPS is good

sorry to bother, I put new o rings in my hpop and new lines. 2000 7.3 t truck had a no start found a blown fuse maxi number twenty four. replaced fired up, ran for five mins, reved it and it died. No start after that. checked everything could find nothing. finally I noticed on the directions for the new lines and cross over line, it mentioned to discard the springs and check valve under fittings for lines on pump. seems the new fittings are different inner diameter and the springs don't fit in the fittings like on the original. I belive by not changing the springs and valves, that I may have literally torqued the spring down when I installed the oil line fittings. This is a three hose kit with bolt on hoses not snap on. Anyway I checked ipr, looks great , not sticking from what I can tell , I pushed on the piece in the center while spraying with brake fluid and id didn't seem to stick at all and seemed to open and close the ports as I would expect. I did a test on the solenoid for ipr it had an ohm reading of 11.3. I just now removed the spring poppet check valves. Have you ever had a problem like this? any suggestions? my resibour is full, i also removed the icp sensor and turned it over prior to removing spring poppets and it was just barely any oil coming like a half quart max on a long crank with that icp sensor removed. i also ran 12 volts directly to ipr and turned over no start. My theory is i basically dead headed the pump by bolting down those fittings with the spring poppets in. I haven't attempted re start yeti thought i would attempt to confer with you first . thanks a lot
@dennisbohannon8633 жыл бұрын
Did you ever remove the springs from the hpop and was that your issue

@MacGyversWorkshop5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the compliment! You can refill the HPOP through the tiny hole in the top, But it really only takes a few cranks to refill the reservoir. Then run it at a fast idle for a few minutes to work out any remaining air in the system.

I've got a 2001 F-350 with a 7.3 diesel cranks but won't start replaced all three of those items but still no start have you ever heard of the injector wires coming unplugged from the valve cover gasket if so how popular is this
@MacGyversWorkshop5 жыл бұрын
Hear about it all the time... The connector breaks in the valve cover gasket and causes a misfire or no start condition.

I think you misunderstand, unplug censor to the right of IPR up on valve cover.

Well done mike :-D, it gave you the run around but it works now :-D. I don't like the way that the engine computer gave the impression that the position sensor was fine :-(. Perhaps for the future you might seek out an oscilliscope display tool to connect direct to a sensor to see what the little sod is really doing lol :-D.

One thing that I didn`t see or hear was what brand of cam sensor was used . One thing I found out the hard way ( & many bucks--$300 a wack at the dealer) was you don`t use the Ford sensor! I found that you need to use the International Harvester sensor for my `95 diesel ---Part no. 1876796C91--- the second Ford sensor almost got me killed getting on the freeway !!

@johnwythe14093 жыл бұрын
The sensor is actually on the cam shaft, not on the crankshaft, as far as I know, at least for the 7.3L
@rohanboswell54083 жыл бұрын
@John Wythe the 7.3 super duty diesel,is located on front of engine,above crankshaft pulley,done that replacement on all 7.3,that I work on ,complaint is shutting down at stop lights,running a little roughly at idle , never ,got to a no start issue.most of the no start I get on the 7.3 is winter ,glow plug relay, looks like 70'oes starter relay
@scootertrash6473 жыл бұрын
U sure it didn't start after u took out the ipr because sometimes you have to crank em 8 or 9 times for awhile till the hpop refills with oil. When I change my oil I do the hpop as well and sometimes it'll take forever to start and run wonky for a half hour or so.
@bill_nye_the_russianspy_96423 жыл бұрын
I'm having the same wierd issue with my 2001 7.3, I already changed the driver side valve cover pigtail, the icp and ipr sensor and it fired up but was really sputtery, rpms up and down for about 5 minutes then it would die then it didn't want to start back uo until 10-15 minutes later. I lost some oil changing that ipr valve and I read were it could allow air into the system but you would think it would still stay running right? I'm at a loss. I put $500 into my truck in 2 days and its worse then what it was before
@dannydenham81413 жыл бұрын
@@bill_nye_the_russianspy_9642 I rebuilt my HPOP, fuel bowl, oil reservoir and added new larger oil lines with the crossover line. The truck had to sit for a couple of months because of a surgery, but when I finally finished it took forever to get cranked, I ran batteries down several times and done the No-No with either. It finally cranked and ran rough as a cob, got a code for bad IPR, I had used a $39 Amazon IPR , I tried another, same issue of Running rough, idled crappy, finally popped for a $200 Ford Motorcraft IPR on Amazon and truck purrs now. These trucks like Motorcraft parts especially electrical parts.

Thanks for watching! The scanner used in this video is an "AUTEL" Maxidas DS750, Unfortunately it's now obsolete. But, the upside is that you can find them really cheap adn they still work on the older stuff. The last update I got on mine was 2012, and it still works on some newer cars too.

99-01 dash will move with good CPS. 02-03 dash will not. also you should always keep a extra CPS in the glove box. 10mm wrench. first thing to change if your 7.3l wont start.
