Run 250 shot on it. I do on a “stock” mark iv 454. Peanut heads with a small roller .572/.572 234/244 in a 3k car running 10.50s. When the backup motor gets finished I’m seeing what it’ll take in 50hp jumps.

Just curious what the truck weighs and how much you’re spraying? My 9:1 compression 496 runs 7.40s in a 4360lb daily driven full size pickup and 6.90s on a 150 shot thus far.

A truck 454 is closer to 7.7:1. If he has the better oval port heads, im assuming they are the 781's or 049's. They are worth about 20-30 horse with a cam like his. Unless you have a 96 or newer 454, then it's about 9.0:1. The vortec heads don't flow quite as good as 781's. They flow about 15 cfm less at .500. Still a better setup than the tbi 454's.

i like that a stock 454 that depends on the 454 i got the 450 hp 454 and after putting a high rise and a 850 on it it really came alive i hate to see on nitro

Yeah, that sounded bone stock, maybe like an RV kinda cam? But yes put a healthier bumb stick in that thing, a good single plane, and head's if money allows, should get into the 5's!?!? Maybe put some ring gap in it so you don't hurt it! But you're safe with a 150 shot, but a 250 shot is a whole lot gooder 👍🏻🇺🇸💪🏻✌🏻
