You got really good shots of this. Wasn't shaky at all. My truck has a loose steering column. 1993 F350.

I need to look into this problem, I have heard it happens to all the Ford trucks in this era and I want to know how to fix it before it happens to my truck. :)

Thanks for sharing. I would degrease the oil pan and then watch to see where the leak is coming from on the oil pan.

The leak seems to be really slow now, just need to save up to get it resealed. :)

Might be able to remove motor mount bolts and lift up enough to drop oil pan ?
@KoalityofLife
@KoalityofLife 2 жыл бұрын
Might be able to but that's a lot of motor to be holding up. The good news is that the oil leak seems to be very little now. I might just live with it. Call it dust control for my parking spot in the gravel. lol :)

Thanks. Just pulled mine out,, curious did you have a lot of shavings internal?

You're welcome. No I didn't have any shavings inside mine, it was just worn out, pulling a lot of AMPs to crank it over so I replaced it. Thanks for watching. :)

@@KoalityofLife I believe it’s the original starter. Made in Japan, 210k. Trucks had a hard life. Now in Mexico and will see if I can have it rebuilt. Again thanks for providing a clear and concise video nice to just grab my sockets and not have to guess. The fire ants biting my ass and back made it a race. 😂😉🙏🏽

Hope my 96 goes smooth like the camera work on this great video. Wondering if able to get all around the gasket from the outside one could seal it up well enough with some kinda product. Not that I ever recommend an oakie rig, but once had an expedition with a common problem of failed windshield gasket letting rain water drip onto cpu causing ALL kinds of craziness. Did a nice caulk job with Henry’s roof patch in a tube. Couldn’t even tell and was fixed for around $10.00

found your channel because of the Case 580ck. How's she performing now? I just bought mine today, has minimal hydraulic leak on 1 hose but it runs fully and got it for $3500!
@KoalityofLife
@KoalityofLife 2 жыл бұрын
Mine runs and operates good for being what it is. What year is yours? Make sure you replace lines that leak right away, they usually turn into bigger leaks at the worst time. I had a line on another 580 ck but someone got to it before me. I could have used some parts off it.

@@KoalityofLife Mine is a 68 model. The previous owner just didnt buy the right seals so it should be a simple fix. I’ll order parts as soon as i can! If you can post updates on your tractor that’d be great. They’re lovely machines

I usually post videos about it when I need to fix something on it or use it for something. Have you come across Everyday Projects channel? kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZK6XoqNi6h9rZI He's restoring a 68 Case backhoe and posting videos of it.

These motors were not known for oil pan leaks. I would look in the intake valley and make sure it is not full of oil. They were known to leak oil out of the ICP pump. They fill the intake and drain out the weep hole on the passenger side. Which most likely caused your starter to fell from oil entering the starter motor. I would do some googling, and they are plenty of videos on this issue. You may have a rare bird. But I would suspect a different problem. Just throwing this suggestion out there.
@KoalityofLife
@KoalityofLife 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I'll look into that and see if I can see any oil up in the valley. :)

Did you keep the spacer between engine and starter or remove it? I just removed my starter and didn't know they even had a spacer

The oil leak is not gone but greatly reduced. Makes it easier to save up to have the job done when it's convenient for me to be without the truck for a while. :)

It's a lot easier to lift the cab, than to pull the engine. Might be too late but should save you or one of your subs, some $$$!
@KoalityofLife
@KoalityofLife Жыл бұрын
That's a good point, hadn't thought about lifting the cab. My leak seems to be really small now. If I parked inside a garage I might worry about it but for now it can be. Thanks for the idea and thanks for watching. :)
@Bwanar1
@Bwanar1 Жыл бұрын
Your welcome. Also there is the option of disconnecting the motor and transmission mounts, opening the hood and jacking the motor and tranny up high enough to get the pan off and on. I just heard of this one recently. That may be even easier unless you need new cab mounts anyway. Then you get a 2fer. @@KoalityofLife
@KoalityofLife
@KoalityofLife Жыл бұрын
@@Bwanar1 I wondered if the motor could be jacked up high enough to remove the oil pan without taking the motor all the way out. Might be a little heavy with the trans on it but worth a try if you had a nice enough engine hoist. :)
