Superformance makes great cars. I have more than 22,000 miles on my GT40 MKI. My only complaint is Superformance's complete lack of after-sales support. I'm sure a few of the Cobras that are in the background of that shop are outfitted with the 427! Either way, this 7.3l Cobra is a true monster, I bet that thing is wicked fun and turns heads everywhere it goes. Awesome unit.

Love the Cobra and plan to build a “replica” here in my country! But like many new versions of it I’m not shooting for an exact copy, but a restomod with a modern Ford V8 engine and transmission, CF race seats and other parts, modern chassis, independent suspension and 18” wheels. Kind of the new AC Cobra launched last year. About the engine, after reading a few books and watch God knows how many videos, I found there’s a catch: although we all love the big 427 engine, race drivers of the day hated the upgrade from the 289, because it wrecked the handling of the car. Also, with such a short wheelbase, the immense torque of the 427 at low rpm is responsible for most of the spins and crashes with the Cobra when the driver gets too excited. So, it’s something to think about🧐. Can’t wait for the video! Thanks, Shawn!

They do tend to want to swap ends for sure. I rode in a buddies CSX a few years back. It had the aluminum block ~485 ci, 580 HP stroker FE. It was a total animal and would just annihilate the road race rear tires.
@johnnygeorgopoulos40729 ай бұрын
Mar, think about this, the last years of the true AC Ace's before Carroll Shelby contacted AC to drop a 289 and then a 427 into them to make them Cobra's, they had the AC Ace Ruddspeed with a Ford Zephyr derived 2.6L I6 with a rack of SU's or Webber's hanging off the side.... how about my idea, a Ford Barra 195 I6 with some headwork, higher compression, and a rack of ITB's making in excess of 300hp....300hp is literally nothing as they make close to that stock the 195's at 261hp and 288lb-ft, depending on the headwork and tune, you'd probably be easily able to surpass 400hp without real effort, and both having the closest to "original" as all the AC's of this "model" had I6's until Carrol, and the most unique as I know nobody nor have seen anyone ever show they've put the infamous Barra I6 in one.... literally win-win 👌
