Good video. A lot of (other) vehicles come with a schrader valve already / permanently installed as part of the fuel rail. Wonder if the material inside the Schrader valve insert is made to be fuel tolerant as opposed to air version (the commonly available type)

Wouldnt the pressure at the location you have show just the pressure in the bowl? You would want to put it in the other port to show the pressure after the pressure regulator to check the PSI heading to the fuel rails rith?

You are probably an old man now since this is an 11 year old comment but yes absolutely I agree it should be post fuel bowl filter. I also believe in a perfect world that a pre fuel bowl inline filter be installed after removing/deleting the tank fuel filters. Attached to the frame rail and a T installed between the tank and the "aftermarket" inline filter so you can then run a fuel vacuum gauge to your dash showing any excess backpressure from the inline fuel filter. That gives you a good idea of when you need to replace the inline fuel filter or if the filter you bought is too restrictive.

All is well..BUT you need to do this test under load while driving, not just revving it up. Seen them do well in shop then drive and pressures drop to 10-20 psi. Never dropped below 45 psi at shop. YOU MUST DRIVE IT OR YOU WILL NOT GET THE INFO YOU NEED. The gauge needs a 6 ft hose.

Did a fuel crossover from riffraff used the 68-72psi spring getting 80 key on engine off and almost 90 running is that bad also I pit new regulator poppet on they said use an oring also seems a bit much to me I think that additional oring on the poppet is the reason for the 90 plus psi what do ya think

My 97 came with a Schrader valve to bleed it. My e-fuel conversion bowl delete holds 65 psi.

if its pre99 I heard that the pressure will be jumpy, as long as it sits above 40 your good.

My 7.3 powerstroke does not work with 60 psi of fuel, I made a regulator that reached 110 psi but even so it accelerates for a while and the filter runs out of diesel, change injector tires, clean the tank, engine service, pressure regulator. What could it be, I'm from Guatemala, please help

My fuel pressure is dropping as low as 48 psi. I'm thing weak pump. Any advice on what would cause it? Truck also lacks power around 35 mph and 45 mph it will pour black smoke when the fuel pressure drops i really have to push the pedal down to accelerate then it pours black smoke and takes off good.

Screens in the pick up that are located inside the tank are common to plug up. DieselTech Ron has a few videos on YT showing how to clean them.

good video but if you can't read it while driving its pointless. so if you gonna do it do it right. something permanent plus down stream of the filter thus monitoring both pump and filter. its the whole point of gauges so you can instantly know and save time troubleshooting! plus how often do pumps go out? a lot less than filters and filters are cheaper. so change the filter.....still low psi you got other issues. =] also this is on what 99 and above? 94.5 - ? are mechanical pumps.

I have a fuel sending unit somewhere i can't find but I'm almost 100% positive it's the same as most Oil psi sending units and they are 1/8-27. If you can wait a day or so I can pop my hood and double check but I'm 99% sure it's the same.

The Ball the truck in the video is a 99-03. U can tell from the intercooler pipes and u can see as soon as he turns the key on he has pressure. 94-98 wont have that.

@@aaronmullins3903 Technically there is no 98. Ford ran the 97 up about may 98 when they did an early release of the 99 superduty. I have a February 98 build date on my 97. And you have to be careful because both of them have a few parts that aren't what they should be earlier or later.
