You are the BEST!!! It works. Thank you. I wish all videos were like this one, short, clear, to the point. It solved problem with 7.62x39 mag i got with my Radical Firearms RF-15. I had failure to feed every 3rd round. I watched your video and tried to push the round slowly with finger out of the mag. When the bottom of the case reached the ridge on the side of the mag, it CLICKED and stucked. It took a lot of force to push the cartridge further. I didn't have right size of pliers like you have, so I took dremel and ground off those 4 bumps. Now the cartridge goes nice and smooth without stucking and the rifle feeds like champ, no problem since then (maybe 30 rounds fired, I would have 8-12 FTF issues before this adjustment). You have like and new subscriber!

I noticed someone down below saying they don't have this issue with ASC mags, I have 3 ASC mags, 10 rounders, brand new and it does the same thing you are addressing in this video, more so when it has 10 rounds in them and you try to pop them out by hand the first 4 are nearly impossible, the 5th one they start to come out like they should and gets easier and easier the more you take out from the 5th one. That spring tension just presses them up against those ridges so much they don't want to slide out, I have not tried them yet in the AR15 because I'm still waiting on the lower to get shipped. But I know that this is not right and this is a great video with great info, thank you. Wasn't sure what was hanging out the casings, til I saw this video and tried ejecting them by hand and seeing where they hang up and it's right on that first ridge. Awesome!

+Kurt Eschman & Everyone having issues: I think I have the ultimate combination for folks who are having feed problems with the AR in 7.62x39. In addition to Kurt's excellent 'crimping' idea for the mags, I picked up a new BCG from Windham Weaponry in 7.62x39. It's particle-inspected and chrome-lined. That, combined with a mil-spec (or preferably higher) grade strong buffer spring does the trick, (for me, at least). As Kurt said, having a strong buffer spring really helps when pushing the bolt forward again, to strip another round. I had ZERO failures yesterday using using 5 ASC 10 round mags, and 8 C-Products 10-round mags. 300 rounds and no failures at all, except that I ran out of ammo LOL. Thanks again for your excellent tip, Kurt. Good luck everyone... this does work, and it's a lot of fun and very accurate using the AR-AK platform. Personally, I love it.

I took a friend out yesterday. we ran a lot of rounds to many to count and all ran fine as well. sat at the bench and pounded steal plaits at 400 yds. it was so much fun watching his expressions and laughing when hitting the steel plait one after the other. my 3} 10 rnd and my 2} 30 rnd were flawless.

+Kurt Eschman That sounds awesome Kurt! Thanks again for your ingenious idea about the crimping, and your insights as to why the failures. I'm sure I'll still have to do some tweaking, but it's sure fun to fire this hard-hitting round through the AR platform.

I'm going to Lowe's today. Thanks for this tip, and the appropriate tool. I knew the dimples were the issue before I saw your vid, but couldn't come up with a quick fix. I actually thought about drilling them out, but was afraid of weakening the structure. Your solution is perfect. Thank you! I've got 10 C-Products 10-rounders and I'll be working on them tonight. Using the 7.26x39 round in the AR platform is super-fun and very accurate. One day, someone will come up with the perfect magazine design.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I sent a rifle back 2 times and got a refund because I thought the gun was the problem at first, and not the XCR mags. I already have the nail nipper you used to take out the dimples so I am doing it right now. I was this close to throwing away the XCR mags but now have new hope.

I bought one ASC 10 rnd 7.62x39 mag and I looked at it to make a comparison. They already have that "dimple-less" part near the lips like you have except they didn't do it as far. I have cycled it and feeds the steel case hollow points fine. BUT, if you try to let it feed slowly, it nose dives. It's because with a full mag, the last 3 rounds only have the most tension on the case at the very back due to the tapered case.

If the rounds are getting caught on the front lip of the mag, or are not being stripped off the mag, the solution is to replace the buffer spring for a .308 buffer spring, carbine or rifle length, depending on what rifle you have. The extra strength of the .308 buffer spring will send home those rounds no matter what. You are welcome. God bless you all.

tried that, specifically red sprinco spring which is 25% more force and the gun just won't cycle fully. Not enough gas pressure to compress the spring

@@A25227 Go with the regular .308 buffer spring, and to reduce short cycle malfunctions, lock back the bolt and leave it locked back for a few weeks, to break in the spring.

6 years ago. I just bought some rwb 762x39 magazines for an AR-15 and they get jammed inside and won't release. Any thoughts on that? Even trying to pull them out is a chore. It's all somewhere where you bend something but I don't want to start destroying these brand new magazines that I can't return unfortunately.

I had fail to feed issue about every 3rd round. I thought the rifle was the problem. Then I saw this video. How is it possible they make this shi**y magazines and they are the famous, most reliable, go to, magazine manufacturers?? They did not tried them before selling? And how is possible they have great reputation??? That is something beyond comprehension! Issues I had with magazines: •Unknown brand mag. that came with my Radical Firearms: Issue with huge bumps inside that were catching rims of cartridges. (this video solves it) •ASC mag: same as above •Duramag: same as above + front side of the mag was too tall so it was catching neck of cartridge, or in worse case the tip of the bulet just went straight and hit it and stucked. I needed to grind it off. But I didn't try to shoot it yet. Maybe the tip of the bullet will be hitting lower receiver now instead of mag's front wall.

I did this to my 3 XCR mags and noticed instant improvement with up to 6 rounds in them. As soon as I loaded 7 or 8 the spring tension was so tight on the rounds they still fed hard and nose dived into the side of my chamber. Oh well 6 is better than none. Maybe they will loosen up when I use them more and the spring tension loosens a bit. Thanks again.

It is still a little disappointing that only 6 feed without nose diving. I do not know how these mags ever worked with 10 in them on the XCR pistols. I bought 2 of the 28 rounder's pinned to 5 by C Products and they work flawlessly without even touching them. Thanks again for the help with this. It was totally unsafe the way they worked before doing this.

Matt bowden if you tack a empty casing on a Dowling or pencil and disassemble your magazine. and slide the casing in and out on the left side and the right sir agenst the feed ramps it will tell you where they are catching that is the part on the magazine that neads adjusting. when you have you magazine all to get er all that should holf the bullet in the mad is the spring tension against the feed ramps. when this is accomplished fading smooth. Q. how is your gassing? 7.62x39 on a AR platform are known to be light on gassing.

or, instead of buying the ak mag (yep those are not AR mags ) just spend the $30 for the correct ar-7.62x 39 magazine and leave the tools with the the ductape and the Bama jersey. puts the .223 to pasture . hands down. wait til you see the new ONE piece 6" scopes hit the market right now and lose the pretty colors and don't forget to hide that flash. sound is our friend, think more as pushing a .308 and you will save time getting this dialed and deadly. Ps compare the marine corps study 0n 16" barrels with even 20" you will be shocked at the lack of 500-750 meter pattern difference. I was. save that $$$
