“This book is unique in the sense that it combines an enlightened but Orthodox fiqhi perspective with years of real pastoral and practical experience dealing with issues pertaining to Islamic marriage in our times, particularly as regards Muslims in the West. Every young Muslim (especially in the West) wanting to get married-or newly married-should read it. It might save them from messing up their lives, and making terrible errors they would always regret. I know of no better book for this. It is also well-written and easily digestible. May God reward Mufti Mangera for having written it and making his tremendous experience and wisdom available for a paltry price. Contemporary Islamic self-help at its finest!”
-HRH Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad,
Author of Love in the Qur’an, Jordan
The Handbook of a Healthy Muslim Marriage is the indispensable marriage guide. With a wealth of experience and a warm sympathetic tone, the author Shaykh Abdur-Rahman ibn Yusuf Mangera brings the insight of a scholar with thousands of hours of spiritual and marital-counselling practice and Islamic erudition to this crucial subject. Topics range from how to find a partner and dealing with in-laws to developing spousal intimacy and the unfortunate divorce.
Extremely well thought-out, well-written and easily digestible with its casual tone
Offers an absolute wealth of anecdotal experiences along with cultural discussions and the necessary legal explanation.
Provides many real-life experiences and scenarios to make it relatable to each reader, especially in the West.
Suggests practical solutions to the multiple issues arising in any marriage, especially how to navigate conflict.
Provides detailed discussions on domestic violence and subjects like infertility and sexual intimacy.
Offers useful suggestions for kindling romance.
A handy resource for every couple throughout their journey of marriage.
A potential saver of couples from messing up their lives and making terrible errors they would later regret.
Contemporary Islamic self-help on marriage at its finest.

Jazakallah khair for your valuable advice. Please add the advice of not sharing marital issues with inexperienced people to seek solutions to the video on advice for husbands. I know of a number of divorce issues that were caused by husband sharing marital issues with inexperienced and biased family and friends instead of seeking advice from people of true knowledge and wisdom. Even pre-marital conversations are breaking up due to influence from inexperienced family members giving one sided biased opinions without involving both parties. May Allah SWT protect our families from wiswas of shaytan both mankind and jinn kind, Ameen.

There are many women now who have to work and manage the home (as very often there is no other option) which changes dynamics and has impact on relationships. I think it would be useful to have some thoughts on this and how to manage things better from an Islamic perspective.

Effective communication - men are simple. Do not drop hints. 4. Give him his space. 5. Speak to your husband about his problems. Do not share his problems with others. 6. 1. Respect a husband who does not respect my sister? Her husband calls her a b#@* daily and outside ppl think he is a good Muslim. Why would a woman not respect a good husband? 2. Be a woman? But what if the husband is a coward & pushes my sister to go to work while he secretly watches at home (not outside) pornography. Putting makeup is not recommended but keep HEALTHY & cheerful. If you are "forced" to work outside? My friend left his good Muslim wife & married a non-Muslim (former Christian who never accepted Islam) colleague of his who he worked daily with & discovered she is "smart". Whatever it is. 3. Communicate... should have a PhD like I do & very easy to make ppl listen to me!! My PhD gives that power. Now my wife wants that power & wants a PhD... 4. Give some free time.. agree 5. Remote Control... do not feed all your family drama to others.. I know Fsmily Therapists who are depressed & destroy people who come to get help from them. If getting abused by man then told my sister to take Karate Classes & beat him up!! He deserves it.. Ooppss became a MAN to protect self from wife beater.. 6. Do not wait for spouse to buy gifts... go buy it yourself.. Agree with SURPRISE ELEMENT (good!) 7. Low in money.. no problem. Get close to Allah SWT. or wife get a job by going to school. 8. In my family, I went to live at my wife home. Dowry.. I respect her house. I work & feed/cloth her. She gives me free shelter. Works out fine for me! 9. MISSED HER PREGNANCY time & her BABYSITTING time & her bedroom time when not obsessex with sex hormones.. MAJOR MILESTONES for women!! 10. Be faithful to your wife. Do not sleep with othet work buddy lady & come home to eat your wives rice, curry... VERY BAD Brothers!! 11. ASSUMPTIONS (PhD Summary): *Husband is a good Muslim? Nah.. No.. he does not pray or fast..to begin with but calls self Muslim because his parents are...) 12. *ONE ADVICE: BE HUMAN. KIND. JUST. MORALED. HARD WORKING. Wash own laundry, do dishes, stop porno, alcohol, tobacco... JUST SAME FOR BOTH..
