I use head and shoulders 2&1 everyday. Have medium/Long hair. Thick and resilient. No issues. Its all about genetics. Some people have naturally thick and strong hair. Some people have thin and weak hair. Its all luck of the draw.

My barber recommends hair gel for me because I have thin hair and the gel adds thickness. If you are using a high quality hair gel it will not be damaging to your hair. Pomade makes my hair too greasy and paste and clay are too dry for me. High quality hair gels with no alcohol are fine. It just depends on your hair type.
