Thank you for this video. I've been playing for a bit and feel pretty comfortable jamming and improvising at this point. It just really bugs me when I can maybe ~do~ something, but not understand the relationship about what that ~doing~ actually means. I appreciate you breaking things down so much because every video of yours genuinely makes me feel closer and closer to understanding the relationship between everything.

Hey Dan, thanks to you I’m across harmonising major and minor scales, just trying hard now re melodic and harmonic. As you say, not hard, just unfamiliar.

That’s great, Steve. It’s such a useful skill which you’ll use all the time.

the pentatonic fills are still confusing to me, but the roman numbers actually make sense now, so when in a progression its said as I/IV/V they mean the notes from a certain key?
@bassbuffricky2 ай бұрын
No, they are the notes in a major scale. The I is the first note (called the Root note), the IV is the fourth note (called the Subdominant) and V is the fifth note (called the Dominant). The I, IV and V are all major, that's why they are in written in capitals. This principle is the same in any key. Dan demonstrates it in the key of G. So, in the key of G, the G is the Root, the C is the fourth note and the D the fifth. In the key of D, the D is the Root, the G is the fourth note and the A the fifth.

The Roman numerals refer to the chords formed from a key. In C, it would be C, F and G.
