If the backpack does not raise the laptop above the edge of the bag insert a dense foam. I used one about 2 cm square cross section the full length of the compartment. Easy to replace and cheap - free - got it from the packing materials sent to me. For carrying a laptop and every day carry I prefer convertibles - backpack, shoulder bag and brief case style where I can hide all the excess straps. You can find some in sizes from 10 to 33 litres and even larger but then are less brief case or suit case in appearance.

I am rocking an AER duffle pack 3 and an AER tech sling 2 for like an year now. No regrets! The AER tech sling is perfect for my office EDC / travel for some hours, while the AER duffle pack 3 is my weekend trip / travel bagpack. A few points on the AER tech sling 2 - The bag perfectly fit a macbook pro 13, but luckily thats what I have for my office as well as personal device. I love to travel light, while having my pockets empty, so this bag is just perfect for that. A sling crossed with a laptop carry is exactly what I needed and people as so surprised when I pull out a laptop from this tiny bag! The organization is insane as well. Hey Aaron! I'm looking for a new backpack. I was hoping you would be able to give me some pointers. The vision is to have a backpack that I can take to and from places to do work without it breaking my back. It doesn't need to fit much as I currently just hold my laptop, ipad, headphone, cable management pouch, and various other knick knacks like a mouse or sunscreen. If possible I would love for it to be able to fit more if needed. I'm upgrading from a huge Thule Crossover 32L Backpack. I used to carry it around with a gigantic gaming laptop and power brick. I have since switched to a way smaller laptop and now that I do not need the bulky bag I want something lighter and more comfortable. I have listed the features I would like my next backpack to have below. If you need any additional information or have any suggestions for me it would be greatly appreciated! I really liked your Fyro T22 bag and would have invested but unfortunately found out about it a couple days too late. I am hoping to find a bag by end of August as that is when I fly out of the country so I cannot wait for your bag to release in January 2025 :(. Similar bags that I really enjoyed were the NOMATIC Travel Backpack and the Aer Tech Pack 3. I know the video gives me some options but given as it was 3 years ago I was wondering if maybe there were some packs that were newer that you'd recommend! Thank you so much for your time and help! Waterproof Luggage pass through water bottle holder suspended laptop holder (protect the tech!) holder for tablet some organization (pens, sunglasses, mouse, portables, keys) smaller lightweight (needs to fit headphones and tech pouch EDC) stands by itself back pocket for passport (if there is a place I can put my passport safely and quick access it like in the NOMATIC backpack then I can do without this) place to attach extendable key ring (optional)

Many luggage companies (Samsonite, Briggs & Riley etc) make some great backpacks but the youtube bag reviewer community never seems to care about them. Why?
@geraldmcmullon24653 жыл бұрын
Because you can usually walk into a shop in a city and look at them yourself. They also don't need KZbin reviewers and so no affiliated links. A lot of reviewers are picking up from Kickstarter campaigns, specialised bag makers who have a churn rate of new products. Unfortunately it also means you decide on a bag that fulfilled the campaign and never got another production run. In terms of reviews Peak Design seems to be huge. Compared to Samsonite they are a bit player I guess. A lot of people watching the reviews are looking for some thing different, unique even, and like to back a small outfit who may one day be big.
@Seanonyoutube3 жыл бұрын
@@geraldmcmullon2465 thanks for your explanation. Living in a small island with almost no shops, its easy to forget that most people can walk into a shop and check out some of the more common brands, although I think Briggs and Riley isn’t as common as Samsonite, and PD is now commonly found in camera stores in the US. But yeah it does make sense to focus on more “internet brands” for reviews, but I for one would also appreciate reviews of some of the more premium “business” brands. (But I get no affiliate links means less incentive).

It's a little outside the types of bags you usually review, but I think you should check out Matador's new Beast line (18L and 28L). I think it's relevant because I actually found it in my endless search for the perfect travel daypack. Basically, I want a smallish hiking bag that doesn't look like a hiking bag - slim profile, lightweight and durable, but without straps hanging everywhere and loud accent colors. I think the Beast is the best of both worlds. It looks super sleek, and the wide hip belt, sternum strap, and trekking pole bungies are all removable, plus 2 functional water bottle pockets (a must for me). Ironically (considering the topic of this video), the one place it's a little lacking is in organization. There's a hydration bladder sleeve that's too small for most laptops (not a problem for me), but I do miss some kind of admin panel. Hope you check it out!

A number of bags, particularly from former kickstarter projects sell off for under $100. I paid $150 plus $50 shipping for a Hackpack. It went down to $50 for many months and is now back to $100. Bargains can be had. I paid $179 for a Tortuga Set out Divide, it is now $125. There laptop pack back is $89, still above your budget, down from $125. I have found cheap bags barely last the year. Two years study before university, then three years degree, MSc and working in an office going for something of a higher quality can make a lot of sense - but that is why you need someone to tell you that for bags on your short list before you buy and waste your money (unless you can return it with out stress testing it).
