Shinra always blew up the reactor. It was just implied in the original and outright stated in the remake. Jessie remarks a number of times that her bomb shouldn't have done that much damage, and if you look, there was a small explosion followed by a larger one.

No, they didn't. I started playing ff7 again and they never hint at or imply that shinra blew up the reactor. Jessie has one line where she's surprised the explosion was so big. In that same set of dialogue, she also makes it clear she wasn't expecting the explosion to be that big because this was her "debut", as in she had never made a bomb before this and didn't know what to expect.

Say all you want about FF 7 Remake, Barrett story and characterization in this game is insane. Especially that bit where the party save president Shinra and Barret immediately ask for the president to clear their name, which immediately refuted by the president on why Barret didn't ask for reactor shut down? It just show that Barrett don't care about saving the planet and stuff, just revenge for Shinra and what they did on coral.

Jody Boles The whispers (aka the fans) would only intervene when the story diverged from the path of the original FF7. The fans of the original wanted this game to be an expanded but faithful recreation of the core game. Namora made it so the players would _literally_ have to kill fan expectations of the game remaining a faithful remake by killing the Arbiters of fate which can no longer influence characters (in this case the directors of the remake) while they literally ask fan to except that there are changes going forward using Aerith as their medium.

Avalanche being huge was technically a thing in the original but was only shown in spin-off material like Before Crisis and this reimagining makes it more clear to people and makes it make more sense

@@Sheednanigan actually there is because its in the remake and they just wash over it as they exist but as more of a established group paramilitary because it makes no sense if they actually give avalanche more depth. avalanche was only barret because of what happened to him the creation avalanche as a organization undermines his character as a leader and his drive. just makes him a lacky. b crisis core was never really shitted on because it was a mobile game 70 percent of the fan base never played because its mobile and was exclusive to japan. in the original avalanche was a group beyond just barrets but by no means pros the most info we get on them is that they were basically just people who hated shinra. help us with the thing to prepare for the mission barrets group was THE group.

You see a villain full of mystery and you keep asking why is he here what is he doing why did he do that. None of that is answered and in the end you see his power but wonder why not kill cloud why . Alot of questions that he leaves use. He isn't shown as the villain but shown as a mysterious force that has goals no one knows of. Shinra is put as the villain. The dimension boss area thing wasn't him it was all of them braking excaping there destiny. I do not think there is an alternate “Zack is alive” timeline, the scene with Zack walking with Cloud is how it plays out in OG FFVII before they changed it in CC to be more dramatic. Likely what we saw is the literal seconds before Zack is shot. Cloud is basically a vegetable at that point so the Shinra Troops just leave him for dead. After beating it myself my assumption is that somehow Sephiroth has managed to travel back in time after being defeated in OG FFVII. It is destiny for the story to play out how it should however, so when Sephiroth gets back to the past he is immediately beset by the Whispers (ie. the manifestation of the will of the planet) who are trying to keep everything on track. So Sephiroth knows everything that will happen but he can’t directly influence/change it because the Whispers always interfere, as evidenced to us when he tries to kill Barret. He knows ultimately however that his fate is to be defeated by Cloud, and Cloud’s fate is to defeat him. And so my theory is that the only way to avert this is if they BOTH decide to do go against destiny (aka the Whispers aka the will of the planet) and do something differently than how we know it happens in OG FFVII. That’s why at the very end Sephiroth asks Cloud to join him, he needs Cloud to choose to change fate as well in order for him to even have a chance avoiding his fated death at his hands. So the reason he has to use all the illusions and cryptic language he does throughout the game is because the Whispers won’t let him just out right tell Cloud the situation PLUS he knows Cloud hates him and would never join him willingly (even tho he tried to get him to in the end). He has to leave all these bread crumbs so that Cloud comes to the conclusion to change fate of his own free will , and then from there who knows what will happen and what Sephiroth’s ultimate goal will be.

I actually really like this theory, and in my eyes, currently, it's the only way they can salvage that ending. I want my OG story and adventure. The additional details and small twists are fine, but changing key plot points is a big no no. However, if we end up more or less going through the same story, but Sephiroth can do some things differently now because there are no arbiters, then I might be on board with that I guess. .... Roche isn't really a villain, more of a rival. And he was a great addition. The original game Cloud doesn't really interact with any other Soldier's really. Unless you count Sephiroth. So having Shinra use other Soldier's in the game to stop Avalanche was perfect.

I suspect that in one of the sequels to the remakes (perhaps in the final game) there's going to be a moment where the singularities of the different timelines converge which allows Zack to (maybe briefly) help Cloud in his final battle with Sephiroth. Then there may be a touching moment where Cloud desperately wants to be where Zack is, however Zack advises him not to go. This then makes Cloud accept the reality of his timeline and is finally able to move on with the closure he needed. Probably. Maybe. Idk lol

I thought Sephiroth was trying to change the timeline, hence Zac’s survival as a way to improve his odds of surviving the final battle against Cloud from the original game. I thought this was an idea he chose to do using the lifestream and the whispers represent beings that try to keep the timeline intact, hence why one attacked Jessie. I figure in part 2 the whispers may come for Biggs and Wedge and try to readjust their destinies.

Believe or not, to this day, I only knew that Aerith dies in the original, but don't even know the ending. The final scene of the remake implies that Zack is still dead in the timeline of the actual remake. The scene where Zack lives (if he really lives) is implied to take place in a completely different third timeline. The character's we are following in the game wouldn't even be aware of its existence.

I feel like his death just might play out different the cliff they walk to in the ending is where he dies & they walk away from that cliff. sounds like a simple flashback. Its a remake his death can play out different or someone else can kill him when they reach that cliff & maybe even a whisper/specter might help ensure his fate. I enjoyed some of the changes they made. Although I really don’t like the Whispers. They do nothing to improve the original story, and seem really out of place... as if they escaped from Kingdom Hearts. That said, I’m disappointed at how Sephiroth is presented here. As said in the video, he was more of an enigma, but is here now and acting like an Omniscient being. Walking in a building and disappearing whenever he sees fit... acting so cocky, with his taunting and smirking. He used to be just a serious guy who believed in what he did, and new he had the power to do it. Also the end of chapt 16 was a shame. I had chills when seeing everything so bloody and not knowing what was going on, and later finding the president who we searched for already dead... the ending got pretty messy.

The introduction of the Whispers and "omniscient" Sephiroth aren't there to improve the original story. These elements make Remake as a "sequel" to the original story, telling us an alternate timeline. For reasons unknown, the Remake Sephiroth seems to be from the future (?), knowing the events from the original story and his eventual demise, and thus now attempting to change the narrative, with the Whispers trying to prevent that, to keep the original story play out as it was.

3:41 Sephiroth did not break into the Shinra building unleashing Jenova in a specific form. The "Sephiroth" we see is only a part of Jenova breaking into the building to free another part of Jenova that was held captive in Hojo's laboratory. Meaning : the many black-cloaked men with numbers on them are, in fact, failed experiments of Jenova parts transplantation and mutation, and one of Jenova's alien several properties is to reunite. Like in the original game, the real Sephiroth is not even here, but is probably sleeping in the northern cave waiting for the reunion of the many jenova parts, which are supposed to bring him the black materia by the way. All of this is part of Jenova's plan. Well... At least that WAS the story, before Nomura included another Marvel Sephiroth from another time-line for another story.

I’m OK with most of the changes since most of them just expand on what was already there. I understand that and remake some things change. I expected that. What I don’t want, however, is for the main story beats of the original story to be changed. I have one of the remake so I could share it With the younger generations in my family who are not around for the original, and balked at the graphics. I had hoped that this would be the original story with a new coat of paint and nothing more. That’s what I wanted. Now there are still ways to make the whispers work so that they aren’t detrimental to the original story, however that last hour of the game certainly implies that they have plans to meet major changes that fundamentally transform remake into a reboot. And if they had intended to do a reboot, I would rather they be upfront about that.

What I think is happening is that someone messed with the original timeline(aka original FF7) which as result is FF7 remake. This is why when something drastic happens like Barret dying the whispers come to correct the timeline. When it’s Aerith’s turn to die the whispers won’t come and save her because she was originally meant to die anyway. Or perhaps she won’t be killed by Sephiroth so the whispers will actually try and kill her to correct the timeline.

Changes I've noticed: - Biggs and wedge survived the Plate collapse (though Wedge's condition after the Shinra HQ escape is unknown). - Rude detonates the explosion of the sector 7 plate, not Reno. - Tseng doesnt smack Arieth after she was captured. - In Chapter 2, There is a familiar music track from Advent Children "LifeStream" (or the track at the beginning of the film while Marlene talks about the events of the game.) - Rude fights Cloud in sector 5 after Reno battle. Tho these are small changes its still nice changes.

Maybe the characters went in the singularity. From the original Timeline and came out in a different timeline. The Timeline where zack is alive. Because Aerith can sense when someone is alive and when someone dies. So she could have sensed that Zack is alive again. And Zack could play a key role in the next game. So you could technically say FF7 remake is a remake of the midgar portion of the game and the next section of the game will be a whole new story with small similarities to the orginal.

I think that by defeating Fate, they ENSURED her death. In a vision they received in the last chapter, they watch Meteor crashing into the planet without the Lifestream defending it. That can only happen if Aerith doesnt die and influence the Lifestream to act. If anything, I think that the Arbiter of Fate was showing that destiny is in Sephiroth's favor with his plan succeeding, while Aerith will choose to sacrifice herself to be able to stop Meteor from happening.

They were putting a lot of emphasis on changing fate, and the future that they saw during the final fight with the Whispers seemed more or less like revamped scenes from the original game, and Advent Children, I think? Not really sure. Though, I don't think they could top Aerith's death, but I'm still really excited to see what Square has up their sleeve with the next part. Plus, Zack isn't necessarily alive, he just survived the ambush.

This is an alternate timeline of ff7. Since the whispers of fate are all dead, it has changed fate of all character. The explosion zack saw is the entire fate of midgar being changed. Zack ends up defeating those 3 soldiers and the damn helicopter. Even his wounds got healed.... Most likely zack will hand over his buster sword to younger cloud and he will end up in future timeline somehow to join the gang. So guys let's not complain about this change it is 110% possible that even aerith might get saved one or another. This isn't Original....so please don't hate. I believe when they defeated the avatar of fate they caused a ripple in time that effected the past causing Zack’s survival. Along the way he’s still separated from Cloud but still alive. Zack is not even alive it's a mix of crisis core and the original.. in the original u don't see him fighting loads of soldiers while in crisis core u do? So the scene in the remake is him walking away to be killed by the 3 soldiers it's simple

I think people woulda been happier with the ending if it was a missable superboss or something (or exclusive to Hard Mode or whatever). At least allow the initial playthrough to be a clean(ish) experience of the original story, then players may have reacted with less hostility to potential change ups upon replay

I HAVE A THEORY ABOUT THE DOG STAMP If you look closely to that stamp, it was a puppy. In crisis core, Angeal (original owner of the buster sword and zack's mentor) pertains to Zack as "Zack the Puppy" because of his personality (goofy, friendly, etc.) Also that stamp was in slow motion like they want you to give attention to it (of course they are). In my own interpretation, it's like saying "the puppy lives" or "the puppy is alive" it's like saying "Zack is alive." But because the authors said that it will be a faithful "remake" and they also confirmed that zack is alive, it's just really contradicting and it also means we don't actually know whats going happen in the later parts of the game. I'm really hoping that he lives because after all, they wouldn't show him in the first part of the game for no reason and he was barely shown in the original game.

Whispers have to be the stupidest addition to this remake along side Roche. This game wont have a lasting appeal like the original to play over and over again. It seems that SE added these things in for the sake of having a 30 hour game.

You MIGHT want to revise this. 1- Several people have pointed out that Shinra was already implicated by Jessie in the OG as the bomb wss stronger thsn she said it should have been. 2- Several people have pointed out that the way Zack was portrayed here was most similar to the OG rather than Crisis Core.

We don't have enough information right now to see where this is going to go, but for the time being, Zack is still dead in the remake timeline. For all we know, Cloud may be completely different in this alternate one we haven't even seen yet.

This is all very interesting,but I hope these new changes were thought up by the writers of the original story,otherwise this is like fan fiction that desecrates the original.
