Hello! I live in Addiscombe, Croydon...I can see the tops of many tall buildings in London from here!...but I read just 150 yards from where D.H.Lawrence wrote his first published work when he was working as a teacher in a local school. He was a very controversial writer but he was also a very literate man from a humble background in Nottinghamshire. 'Women In Love' is perhaps his most accomplished novel but 'Sons And Lovers' is autobiographical & a good place to start reading his whole genre. Keep encouraging others to read 'old' forgotten books...& buy them from charity/thrift shops to help the poor blighters who have no spending money! Cheers Jenny!
