My consistent routine is ….stand behind the ball, line up, hit it. I never take a practice swing except for short game shots….. 9 hcap. As for the 8 second rule…. Spot on, I hate slow golf. Great tips

@@wickedsmartgolf so I played today. Worked on having a preshot routine before each shot. I really focused on giving myself a chance to make the best a score. One meltdown (3xbogey), birdie and two pars. Rest were bogeys and double bogeys. Shot my best score this year on this particular course a 43. Thanks for the boring advice. It works.

I agree somewhat with playing one shot shape, but learning the opposite shot shape can help you get out of trouble thus saving you some strokes as well. PS just subbed good info thanks 4 hndcp from SoCal

I agree it’s great for practice to learn course control & help if you need a certain shot on the course but a lot more consistent hitting a fade or draw 99% of the time on the course. Appreciate the support from So Cal - was just in Newport Beach 👍San Diego next month

For me slower tempo really helps me when I get out of sync. Quicker tempo results in swing sequence issues I feel like this is 1 tip that may not work for everyone Agree with all the others and I know I need to work on routine. Thanks for the tips!

Respectfully, using driver more often really shouldn't be a blanket statement, in my opinion. I'll leave driver in the bag if landing zones are either too narrow for my dispersion or run out could place me in a hazard or bunker. I agree that using it more often is a fair statement, but with discretion. 8 seconds over the ball would seem like eternity for me, I'm barely at 5 seconds when I pull the trigger. 😁🤟
@wickedsmartgolf5 ай бұрын
I just think people assume 3W is a lot more accurate & hitting driver gets closer in proximity- of course it’ll depend on fairway, hazards, etc. good work on the routine timing
@OllyShawlive5 ай бұрын
Agree - my course has many holes that kill you with a lost ball if offline or behind an undulation. I take a 4 wood or 3i wind dependant if I want to be in play.

Take trouble out of play by selecting the correct club, specifically on layup or punch out shots to avoid bunkers, water, OB. If you’re 175 to a fairway bunker on your second shot on a par 5, hit the club that goes 160 max. Make life easier and stick the approach
@undeadh0ps4 ай бұрын
Hitting driver alot, only helps if you can keep it in play. An OB driver hit, does not matter if you can get it 50yds farther than your next longest club.
@wickedsmartgolf4 ай бұрын
Hitting it more in practice + good fitting + one shot shape + routine will help 💪

A two hundred yard hybrid in the fairway is better than a driver out of bounds or in the hazard. When in doubt , club down and put it in the fairway!
@wickedsmartgolf5 ай бұрын
Clubbing down doesn’t guarantee fairway unfortunately -it guarantees a longer distance into the hole which leads to a higher scoring average. Arccos also found that 5 handicaps only hit 3% more fairways with a 3W than a driver.
@SammySnead5 ай бұрын
@@wickedsmartgolf The chances of the average golfer placing a driver into a narrow fairway surrounded by OB or hazard is much less than when using a hybrid club or lofted fairway club. Think of a shotgun type dispersion. The further the pellets go the more dispersion of the pellets. Most golfers are in the 15-25 handicap range and it’s easier to hit a shorter more lofted club straighter. The loft gives the ball more backspin and less side spin. The shorter length makes the club easier to control. The average golfer has a greater chance of hitting the ball solid with more loft and a shorter shaft. Of course there are times to use a driver on the course, but the average golfer would benefit by playing for the fairway hitting the second shot in front of the green and hoping to get up and down for par. This method would help keep doubles and triples off the scorecard. The average golfer scores better with pars and bogeys and eliminating the double and triple bogeys. It’s fun to hit the big dog on wide open fairways, but sometimes the golfer has to play smart.
@wickedsmartgolf5 ай бұрын
Totally agree it’s hole dependent but I think if people spent more time with driver in practice golf would get a lot easier. Lotta players would also benefit from a shorter driver shaft too
@pathellwege40124 ай бұрын
Telling a high handicapper to hit more driver is not good advice. Everyone else it probably lands in “depends” territory.

Tips 4 and 5 are plain wrong. There are plenty of players who would benefit from taking 5 wood from the tee. And slow backswing doesn't necessarily equate to less distance. It's all about tempo and rhythm. That is way more important for the majority of golfers.
