quite a lot of bosses in fallout can be talked down. The master in F1, president Eden in F3, Lanius in Fnv as well. The entire think tank from Fnv can be speeched to avoid that end battle. I am unaware of F2 and I don't think it is possible in F4.

@@b.o.7702 the "Far harbor" DLC for fallout 4 has speech check endings for all 3 leaders and the Mechanic can be talked into quitting in the vanilla game. They don't all kill themselves but you don't actually have to kill any of them unless you want to.

Dr. Robotnik has a pretty big track record of beating himself in Sonic games. Another example occurs in Sonic & Knuckles, where at the end of Lava Reef Zone act 2, you fight him in a mech that has spikes along the top and is immune to lava, but somehow not immune to the bombs it produces

Not just in the games. In what is now commonly called the SatAM Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon, there are a few times it's less of the freedom fighters kicking his butt, and more of him having set himself up for self-defeat.

Actually, the Hollow Knight's self stabbing doesn't do anything, as it's purely visual. With an enemy hp bar mod installed that directly takes the enemy health values, you find out that he actually doesn't do any damage to himself. Just wanted to point that out :)

Speaking of Dr. Robotnik, remember the end of Lava Reef, Act 2 playing as Sonic or Tails? All you have to do is avoid the lava and let his attacks hurt himself. Bonus points if you have the flame shield.

I'm sure there must be half a dozen entries for Robotnik/Eggman, both parts of Mania's Hydrocity Zone leap to mind, where you either kite him into his own poorly discarded ordnance, or just flat out steal his ride and batter him into submission with the propeller.

If you play Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, it is implied that the reason Nakayama is so obsessed with Jack is that he had a very unhealthy crush on him before his death. So it's not just "mad scientist admiring the bad guy", it's "creepy stalker tries to recreate dead love interest in increasingly messed up ways". Fun!

Doesn't happen too often, but Nightmare from Devil May Cry 5. If you deal enough damage to Shadow and Griffon, Nightmare will try to heal them, draining his own health in doing so, and this drains about half of what health he has left when using it.

In Bugs Bunny: Lost in Time, Pirate Captain Yosemite Sam obligingly fires his cannonballs into the greedily awaiting maws of your own cannon, before then being sunk by the said balls. Are they Sam's balls? Are they Bugs' balls? It's academic, because Sam's been forcibly relocated from Yosemite to the bottom of the ocean. 10/10 would cannon-troll again

Ah, Elijah. I loved it when I overencumbered myself by cleaning that vault out, including all 37 gold bars, and so achingly slowly snuck my way out towards the exit while remaining unseen by him as he made his way to the vault. Reaching that elevator at a slow crawl while his curses rang in my ears and activating it, bringing all that loot with me, was glorious. Granted, their value is relatively miniscule when translated to caps, and doing that kinda defeated the point of the Dead Money's message about letting go, but... they do make a nice treasure hoard in the Lucky 38's presidential suite.

The yeti in Spyro: ripto’s rampage (I think I spelled his name right) he literally kills himself in the cutscene that plays when we get to him by jumping a few times and causing a part of the roof above him to fall on him and crush him flatter then the floor he’s standing on. The best part is that he looks up at the last possible second making a noise that could only be described as his way of saying “What the?”

The only time you can damage him (without the fight option) is when he brings out his heart, and you aren't even required to shoot his heart to complete his fight. The only way to beat him is to kill him yourself (idk if that's possible) or to get his rating high enough.

Prepare to have Robotnik/Eggman appear on the list again, as in _Shadow the Hedgehog_ when you fight him whilst piloting the Egg Dealer (kinda like a mobile slot machine). All you have to do is hit the buttons on the machine, and if you play your slots right, he will attack himself.

She basically does the same after you kill her bodyguard (Garl Vinland) saying, "she can no longer defend herself and that you can have your precious Demon's Souls" stabbing you through the 4th wall. She was in another list about bosses you were forced to kill, but in this scenario, it's the option that Luke took in his Demon's Souls playthrough streams.

@@Heisenbones21 difference is the hollow knight repeatedly stabs himself throughout the battle, whereas (from what I hear) Father shoots himself only at the end, once the battle is already over

From a game standpoint, the Hollow Knight stabbing itself is it's attempt to kill itself, though it doesn't actually do damage, nor can you really do much as your attack goes down to 1 while the stabbing happens.

Another boss that defeats itself is the 2nd Red Dragon in the Dragon's Den, the bonus dungeon of Final Fantasy VI Advance. It starts its battle by making itself invincible and pumping up the power of its attacks to massive levels. The way to win is to load up on healing, physical defense/evasion and fire protection, as well as the Reraise spell, and just hunker down. Reraise is useful because its last attack is the Ultima spell, followed by a Flare spell.

I know I'm gonna get some shade for this, but: Dragon's Dogma. What little plot was there was weird, had some inconsistent tone shifts, and felt like it skipped a LOT of steps in some places, but I'll be damned if it wasn't one of the most fun games I've ever played. The combat and class systems were some of the most unique and well implemented gems I think I've ever encountered and it made the game so fun that my issues with the plot didn't matter in the least. Desperately wish there were more games like it out there.

I cannot believe that everyone has forgotten in "Crash Bandicoot 2 Cortex Strikes Back" there are about 4 or 5 bosses who beat themselves for you like prime example would be "Ripper Roo" ( the first boss) who jumps around the room using TNTS and Nitro things being panited all over the floor you have to simply avoid the explosions and spin him easy right ✅️
