The Trax is the same car as the Buick Envista. Same issue. The 3 cylinder turbo with oil timing belt will blow the engine at 30K if you aren't on top of the belt change. The Envista is nicer looking though.

Corolla cross is my choice. A little pricey but get a leftover or low mileage certified.

We just purchased a Mazda CX30. It's a great value for the money with great fit and finish, all wheel drive and enough technology to satisfy most drivers. A great interior that puts our Honda CRV to shame. It handles well and has plenty of power.

I’m driving a 2012 Hyundai Tuscon Limited 105k no problems at all and much more room than the newer models. I will keep driving it!

I've been watching the Envista for months. Test drove one. The Avenir trim level is nicest. The middle sport version looks great but is very cheap inside. The base model is just plain cheap looking in and out. Get the Avenir. Engine is infuriatingly slow, my tester could not get up the freeway on ramp. Not that quiet inside despite the hype. Timing belt runs in oil so will self destruct in maybe 30K miles, blowing the engine. if the overstressed engine doesn't blow up first. My dealer literally begged me to buy the tester, they can't sell them . If you drive mildly, its a decent car with lots of toys, just change that belt. You've been warned (why can't they put a decent 4 banger in this? I'd buy it.)

Corolla Cross probably the best on this list with the CX30 bringing up the rear although the Mazda is made in Meheeco. I don’t know if I would trust Kia and Hyundai and especially not GM. Good video, thanks.

Hyundai has ruined its reputation with the 2011 to 2019 Theta 2, 4 cylinder engine. If you buy one used, it WILL BLOW UP. Nonetheless Hyundai is replacing these blown engines, no questions asked. My mechanic has 2 cars sitting in his garage waiting on new engines, sitting for months. PS: I own a v6 hyundai, an excellent car.

When you put a turbo on a three cylinder engine (Buick), it won't last long. The Mazda cx-30 WITHOUT the turbo is the one to get...as good as a Toyota.

Honda Fit is not a SUV but it is a viable option when you factor in the mpg, reliability and inexpensive maintenance it's a great option.. I have one

Maybe it’s just me,but these aren’t what I would call SUV’s. These are what used to be called station wagons. I have a 4runner,along with Pathfinders, Broncos,Durango,blazer,etc.those are what used to be suvs

I never heard of anyone “boasting” about 121 hp.. and even with that lawnmower, you still only get about 29 MPG combined? Yeah no thanks pass on the Hyundai venue. Buicks and Chevies are a POS! They absolutely WILL break the bank…in REPAIRS! So HELL NO on the Trax and Envista. Mazda CX30-Absolutely agree! Best bang for your back on this whole list BY FAR!
