One of my favorite things I did in Bali was a cooking class that taught us how to properly prepare 7 common dishes in the Balinese culture. We started our day off at a local market where we got to see where the locals shop for their food and offering materials. Since rice is such an integral part of the Balinese diet we got to visit a rice paddy and learn about how the rice fields are made and the logistics of running one. After this, we went to a beautiful home located on a rice field where we got to learn how to make 7 Balinese dishes.
1. Soup Ayam Jamur (Chicken mushroom soup)
2. Tempe Lalah Manis (Sweet Fried Tempe)
3. Tahu Kare (Tofu Curry)
4. Sate Lilit (Minced o spices Fish Skewer)
5. Lawar Bali (Mix Vegetable with Coconut Balinese Spices)
6. Pepes Tuna (Steamed fish in Banana leaf)
7. Dadar Gulung (Rolled Cake with Coconut & Palm Sugar)
After we prepared it all we got to sit around a table and share our meal together, it was fabulous! Would 10/10 recommend this company if you’re looking for an awesome activity to do while in Ubud, Bali.
