for kelly's case, she just does covers before she starts her show and each cover is shorter than the original. I think sometimes she sings for fun and she doesn't really care much about techniques as a host I guess but as a singer singing on stages, she is wonderful! and it's like a small gig to a talk show anyways so she's more likely to focus on the show.

Personally I feel like Luke James was overdoing it, and him doing that pushed Jessie to try and add some extra adlibs in to almost compensate, as for the previous 12 episodes of the Singer show she hadn't oversung at all. Also I feel like her voice wasn't 100% there that day as well, so the cover wasn't the greatest, I think if she re-did it with someone else, she could do it really really well! But I agree, this wasn't her best. I hope she keeps practicing with the whistle, because I know she could do it, just it didn't come out right in this performance 😩😅

I'll be there is honestly sung very similarly to mariah's version. I just think Mariah's band wasn't as loud and Mariah's voice is much warmer and softer than Jessi's (especially their belts) and mariah's runs are less pronounced or seperated. I did like Lana's and lizzo's cover and Kelly did good too though you're right, should've picked a less runny christina song.

You should’ve included Rihanna’s stay by Demi Lovato.
