Haha, yes, I know, I love Utah and have explored many easy and some less easy places to get to. I believe the landscapes, canyons, deserts, mesas and valleys of southern utah are unique, nothing like it in the whole world. I have also made some records inspired by these places under the artist name Melantopia, you can find the music on Apple music and Spotify etc

Day hiked Boulder Mail Trail to Death Hollow and back about 10 years ago. Just wanted to keep going once in DH, but.... Definitely inspired to do this as a multi day trip. Perhaps BMT to DH to base camp and do some exploring up canyon for a day or so, then down to Escalante. Love the way you take time to explore with no wildly ambitious itinerary. Absolutely wonderful camera work once again, showcasing the stunning scenery. Thank you so much for the views and our little "Utah Fix" for the night!

Thank you, this trip we did from the Hells Backbone road is a surprise itinerary, you never know how the water will be for the sections where you either swim or float, people come down with hypothermia in this section that stretches for a few days, and sometimes there is too much water, sometimes too little and no way of turning back. The ambition is in getting through all of this stuff without dying before you reach the BMT, where things get easier lol!

In my view gravity-fed water filtration is the only way to go. Those are some gnarled Jarl legs! Love the commentary and the dramatic scenery not visible from the road. Thanks for sharing :)

Haha, the legs took a beating yes, thanks Amos! I do really «like» the sawyer squeeze, I have moded it with the blue cap so it fits the smart bottle and I can set it up like an improvised gravity system. Normally I dont have time to wait for a gravity system on trail, then its good to be able to squeeze through a fast litre:-)

@@NorwegianXplorer I've found that 3L CNOC bags pair nicely with Sawyer and are more durable and easier to clean and scoop with than the Sawyer bags. I added a string to my CNOC bag so that it's easy to hang as a gravity system

@@BackpackerDiaries Thinking of it, I might be able to modify my trusty MSR water bag to work with the Sawyer, hm, that might work for a gravity system.

Awesome trip. A lot different from the terrain in Escalante South. Probably have to wait till later in the spring to pull this one off with all the water filled narrows. Loved the shot of your legs, mine looked nearly the same after my time in the Canyons.

Yeah, the legs took some shots lol, it is very different up there compared to Escalante South for sure, but both places are my favorites:-) Its important to have warm weather for this trip, or you will for sure get hypothermia, great experience floating down those narrows, where tranquil!

What a great trip Jarl! It looks like the water level may have been a little higher than when we did Death Hollow. Excellent video and perfect music.

Must have been difficult to do in 7 days...I think I could have stayed 7 days at each of your camp sites - so amazingly beautiful! My two favorite adventures, Jarl & Joey... would love to see a compilation of your videos. I haven't found the one Joey did for this trip. But I think it would be fun to see from both lenses in one video. The different perspectives. For the longest time I thought Joey was carrying a golf club ... Lol, guess it was his camera set up 🤓 As always, great video. I'm heading out to Selway in the Bitterroot wilderness for a little adventure. Safe travels

Thank you Debbie, this was an incredibly cool trip indeed, the campsites where amazing! Have a great trip, I am looking at the Barents sea at them moment, the north pole being the next «solid» ground across the water, although it is not solid ground but ice😂

Just stumbled upon this and chose this for my evening instead of netflix :D I am from Germany and visted once Escalante and the surrounding area (slept a night in Death Hollow). Your vid transported perfectly the tranquility and the mystic energy of this place. Good job! How did you charge your iphone during those 7 days? With a regular Power bank?
