@Zamolxes778 жыл бұрын
One observation: you don't have to build the base in order Grand Spartan is doing it. You can built it in reverse, from the top down. You just have to make sure when you build next layer down, don't excavate more than 3-4 blocks at a time: excavate 4, put the rebar in and upgrade it, move to next section. That way, the blocks above the gap you are excavating are always supported by their neighbors. Advantages doing it from the top down? Well, you can start using it as shelter from day you break ground. A little shack on top of the central tower can be your base of operations for weeks, surround it with regular spikes and you are set. Your forges and materials are already on the job site, you don't have to bring them from somewhere else. Project can be built in stages, get the defense part bit 1st, auxiliaries later. Most important, it takes resources that have to pass through a forge, which takes time, so you are constructing as materials become available.

Used this video as a guide on console. My friend and I built this, and also added a bit of a sniper tower on the very top. We also used concrete pillars in the centre tower of the spike area instead of solid concrete, providing an additional spot to attack from & loot corpses. We're now on night 49 and haven't had any issues. The zombies usually try attacking us through the pillars instead of destroying blocks, so it's easy to maintain.

Do the pit spikes have to be placed on the same level as the floor you're standing on, or can they be recessed into the floor one level so the tip of the spikes are flush with the floor?
@GrandSpartan7 жыл бұрын
If you recess the spikes so that they are level with where you are standing, and their legs get taken off, they will from time to time hit the block that is level with the floor. That is the reason I place the spikes where I do. I have had problems with them doing this in the past.

You will have to find the schematic and all parts to build one. You will find the parts and blade in working stiff crates. The engine is found by scrapping cars, and the handlebars you can craft. It is very useful, but will spawn zombies and draw them to you. Also uses a great amount of fuel. Until you can get oil shale or a decent supply of fuel it is not recommended.

@GrandSpartan8 жыл бұрын
You can click on the gear and slow this down to 1/4 speed. Being a block based game, it is very easy to count for yourself how many wide, deep, etc. I don't expect people to copy this exact build, it is just to give you an idea of how to go about creating something that can withstand hordes beyond day 21 or so. Take the idea, use your imagination, and construct something that fits your needs. I do have many other videos where I take the time to explain certain features of the base I am previewing. If you'd like to see this base created step by step with me explaining, check out one of my Let's Play series. I create a very similar structure while gathering the proper amount of resources to do so. I am on episode 50 of the most recent Alpha 15 Let's Play series. I start the first week by building a similar style bunker.

@weasel1o17 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm a console pleb but everything I think is pretty much the same unless there are some different mechanics or structure integrity.
@GrandSpartan7 жыл бұрын
There are tons of differences between the console and pc. We are on alpha 15 and about to enter A 16 here in a couple weeks. Console is still on alpha 14. PC has thing such as drawbridges, chem labs, garage doors, just to name a few. One of the biggest differences that will change how to build a base is, on pc you can still loot the corpses for a long time after they turn to gore. You cannot on console. The bases that I create, unless A 14 is Specified in the video, all reflect this type of mechanic, as we loot all the corpses after the entire horde has been completed. You can check the official forums to get an idea of all the many differences. I hope that they will eventually get console caught up to pc. As it is now console is almost a full year behind.

@nicholaswozniak88418 жыл бұрын
haha I feel like he uses a lot of the concrete in excess. all you need to be concrete from what I can see is the polls and maybe the first couple of layers of the inside building. the ground definitely doesn't need to be all concrete
@GrandSpartan8 жыл бұрын
This will be the only bunker that I will need until I get tired of playing on that map. I will upgrade every block to steel eventually, so it is not a waste. You will notice that even the blocks on the ground will take damage from cops projectiles/explosions. You definitely don't want to use wood up top and stand a chance of it breaking right above your head during a horde. The zombies would pour into your base from above. I personally will play it safe and go at least concrete anywhere I can afford to use it.

@Zamolxes778 жыл бұрын
In the beginning, any desert biome, you simply dig it up, off the surface. In the desert, sand is like fertile dirt in any other biome, however, only the top layer is sand and gives you 10 crushed sand for every shovel scoop. Later, when you get some points into your skills and perks, you can build a concrete mixer and convert stone into crushed sand with it. Miner69 er at 5/5 and using a steel pick that destroys a stone in one blow, you gather 30 stones per swing, which is 3 times more efficient than desecrating the desert.

Having an auger is just a luxury. As long as you can get points in Miner 69er and have an iron/steel - shovel/pickaxe, you will be fine. All you really have to dig through is dirt. One click from the shovel will take care of a block of that. This bunker is an end game bunker, so when you get this done, you will not need to build another. Keep that in mind. Most people do not have augers when creating such things.

You can always click on the cog under the video and slow it down to 1/2 or even 1/4 speed. I did build this base "quickly and easily". It only took an hour start to finish.

This base could be from 5 block deep to as deep as you desire. There is no standard or required depth for this style bunker.
