I use bacon and eggs as my go to on the cooking pot. Cooking pots are easy to find, grills not so much. Bacon and eggs are really good on wellness and fullness. Plus it’s something to use all those eggs on and it keeps me in arrows and feathers by forcing me to go out after eggs.

PSA: there are no more pigs (alpha 16.4), there are only boar, and boar want to kill you back. On the other hand, there is no smell either, so that's one less thing, though it left the habit of stashing meat products in the trash outside POIs before scavenging them....

For bears, if no rocks are around use a shovel and dig a few blocks down. Once he’s on top of you crotch so he can’t hit you then shot or melee in between his strikes

One suggestion for something you didn't mention about cooking meat... When first starting out, I usually don't have a cooking grill or a forge to make a cooking grill. Players can also cook charred meat without the grill. It has the same fullness and wellness but you take a hit on your hydration. Also, great tip for killing bears from a rock!

Nice tutorial. But I'd highly recommend making Bacon with Eggs instead of grilled meat. First it's way easier to find a cocking pot at the beginning and second it has the same amount of wellness gain, but no dehydration like the grilled meat does. Eggs should be common enough as you search for feathers anyway.

you can make boiled meat as well, no dehydration, but grilled meat combined with any tea make better result. As far as smell goes... more zeds on your ass means more xp and loot, if you know how to conserve your stamina.

I tried the rock tactic and the bear was able to get up the rock as well, he ate me, I usually just kite bears once my bow is high enough in quality, I prefer the bow over the xbow I can aim better with the bow, also it's easier to get up to 600 quality with a bow thanks to the workbench.

in the PS4 version it seems that if you increase the enemy spawn rate there are more animals, note: bears are common especially in the city(random gen).As I tested some things is seems that the ice biome and savana are the best for finding animals in low or no enemy spawn rate, anything above low enemy spawn rate spawns often, high enemy spawn rate: you can find animals more commonly. Note: best way to find animals is just running around new areas or re-exploring with a minibike. PISTOLS: .44 affective at close range 5-7 blocks away for a one shot headshot. pistols affective at close and medium range, close recommended, not a one shot headshot from 15-20 blocks. I will update this if I get a reply of a weapon I can test out

I used a bridge gurder to go grab a drink figured up on to of the bridge he would be safe.but belive it or not a dsmn bear got up there and kilked him. The bear is extremely powerful, but I would not call it dumb exactly. I was being followed by like 17 zombies the other day and I attacked a regular bear in hopes the zombies and bear would fight. nope bear plowed through the zombies after me. ran up stairs it followed, ran around cars and buildings it followed. It finally stopped for whatever reason and I was able to escape. bears will also destroy the rocks that you stand on and be able to either make you fall off or get up to you.

Everyone makes hunting animals in this game look so easy. My wife and I have been split screening PS4 on the standard map through 2 hordes now and STILL have maybe only killed 2 stags and one rabbit. The two stags were glitched is the only way we got them. I'll be crotching, hit a stag right in the head and it will still run away. We haven't been able to make a forge or anything like that yet, it's making this game very hard.

to add to this tutorial, if you have a lot of eggs and raw meat, you should make bacon and eggs because that is a effective food source and gives more wellness than grilled meat

Best food to make, and is worth waiting until you have the stuff to make it, is blueberry pie, meat stew and vegetable stew. Now, corn bread was my favorite to make and carry with me during travels because it's easy to make and boosts wellness and doesn't smell. BUT now that we can grow our own mushrooms, mushrooms are better to bring with you just on there own. Because it has the same fullness and doesn't require cooking and you yield a lot by growing them. Although it doesn't add wellness. For best fullness and wellness without smell, I'd go with blueberry pie. Which is fairly easy to make, granted you check all nests you come across for eggs. Always pick up eggs no matter what. Even just 1 or 2. They'll add up eventually and come in handy for cooking.

That's how it actually works in the field, especially when you're bow hunting deer. You find the blood trail and follow it and will usually find it either dead or exhausted from blood loss.

A trap very usefull for the bear: structural integrity! Dig a hole and place spikes in it, place wood frames at the surface, launch a turd or an arrow on mister Bear, run to the hole, and... He's too fat, he falls down in the hole! Make sure it's quite large for your friend. Like if you want 2HandGaming to make a video on it! Ow! And i prefer cooking my eggs with the meat!

If you find a bear shoot it with a rocket launcher and then come back to that same location the next day and 2 bears will respawn in that location. I found this out through chance. I captured 6 bears in total and made a huge zoo enclosure surrounding my house so the zombies have to go through them to get me and they get attacked by the bears. It’s cool to watch. The only downer is if you leave your home and go to a far away location all the bears will vanish despite being fully caged in. This has happened many times. They don’t escape they just vanish. Best way to keep the bears is to stick it on split screen 2 player mode and have the other player stay with the bears while you go wandering then you won’t lose them.

VeNuS2910 yeah it’s great to watch but did you know that the zombies can kill the bears? I’ve lost many bears I’ve captured because of the zombies dropping in there inclosure and overwhelming them. also if 2 bears are attacking the same zombie they can accidentally claw each other and it can also take there health down. Once a bear dies or vanishes it never respawns in the location you found it. That trick I wrote about earlier with the rocket launcher only worked on the 1st bear I see in the game after I killed it then it didn’t work. I thought it worked always but it’s happened twice when starting up a new game with a new character.

I use a nail gun and the moped to get the bears home once I spot one. When they stop chasing the moped stop and shoot the bear then quickly jump back on and continue slowly home if you want to keep them as pets 😉 it’s not as easy as you think but it’s great fun having them as pets.

There is no best place to find animals because they randomly spawn around you wherever you are, in predetermined numbers. But, i will tell you that its gamebrakingly easy to spot animals in snow biomes because there is no grass around you. Hope that earns a like, good luck.
