It is a good one off guide for learning how to repair electronic items like a wizard minus the headache. Just a heads up, it take more points into steel smithing to get to the point that you can make mechanical parts. I believe you have to have lvl 70 tool construction and steel smithing has to be on lvl 3 witch is 30 points per lvl.

Yeah, your smithing skill has to be in lvl 3 just to be able to make them. Not sure if I clarified that in the video. But if not, it takes 20 points just to get to the first level. lol. Takes a while :)

They do, but not as often as the mentioned items, cars give a lot of fuel, iron, cotton, leather, and then whatever else that could show up including engines and lead car batteries.

If you're by a hub city then there's another... THING that you can wrench apart for Mechanical Parts. I have no idea what it is but it's like a metal object sitting around on the bottom floor of some of the destroyed buildings. Looks a little like a bear trap or a fallen chandelier or something, idk. But you can totally get parts from them. FYI.

edit : still accurate in A18! Wrench those things to get mechanical parts. Wrench everything remotely mechanical or electrical to get all kinds of parts. love how this 4 year old video is the top hit on google. love early access games. it's great trying to find current info on early access games. lmao early access, 4+ years later This did help though, assuming the data is still accurate. I'll find a wrench (rip all the ones I ignored until now) and see.

Thanks! 14 was brutal. We had several instances where the hordes were bugged and we had hundreds and hundreds of zombie kills in the first 14 days and still couldn't get away from the hordes. A15 is much better.

TLDR at bottam. It is hard and meant to be but trust me once you get a few kills and ding up fast, the points are the main thing that keeps us alive on depending how you spend them. E.G blunt weapons and pummel pete was my first two powerleveled skill and I wiped the zombies easily then gaining me even more levels. Now I'm maxed out on pummel/blunt/tool smithing(better tools man must have early on imo), TLDR: It all really depends on your playstyle. If you still cant stand it just turn off zomb spawns for first few days to give yourself time to prep.

Leveling up Construction tools in general will give more block damage last time I checked. If you need better block damage, you might want to consider an iron Sledgehammer.

Yeah, R2 to break things down, L2 to repair. I consistently get mechanical parts from shopping carts but the A/C units and other mentioned items will give them as well but probably not in as high of drop chance.

Yeah, that's the official wiki. I didn't name every place in the game you could find them, just a big handful of common places :)

So Funpimps finally gives us console peasants alpha 14, where the workbench comes into play, but hardly is there any place to scrap for mechanical parts. At least I'm not getting any (1 in the last 15 days of wrenching everything I can). We still don't have the Trader. Thanks FunPimps, for finally giving us the possibility of making a workbench.

On console shopping karts are the best place to find mechanical parts. if you can locate a Shamway grocery store there are tons shopping karts in front and inside. you'll have tons of Mec parts in no time. they drop each 1 or 2 parts per kart. you can also find karts in front of all the other stores but not as many.
