I will say that leaving everything on as you leave is a good way to avoid screamers, but by late game you should have at least a couple auto turrets on your base that are aimed to eliminate roaming zombies that get too close to you. Cover all sides of your base then feel free to leave your crafting stations running full time. That screamer will die before it can summon anything, and all you have to do is go out there and gas up the generator from time to time and every week or so check the available ammo as you probably wont use much killing a single zombie at a time. Now you can craft at all hours of the day and night with total safety and no annoyance other than the occasional sound of gunfire. Just something to keep in mind. I had built a base for myself and was digging out an impressive cavern underneath it and it was so OBNOXIOUS to have to halt everything when i thought i heard something, run up the ladder, out the door, and see if I had attracted a zombie or screamer. When I got a generator and 4 turrets on my roof it was just so much better. I could just mine and smelt forever and ignore the screamers spawning. The sound of gunfire making me smile as I continued doing my best dwarf impression. Its a bit pricey to setup sure but oh so worth it.

Followup tip on farming screamer hordes: I like using robo sledge to juggle mobs off a shallow walkway in front of your door. Throw on a burning shaft mod to both and you're golden. BONUS to this is when they spawn dogs. With a basic farm for potatoes and corn, the dogs also supply you with rotten meat for Hobo Stew. You won't need to worry about starving out

Tip 10: Don't get cocky. Me: Playing on survivalist difficulty purposely running into those zombie groups in the tier 5 POIs, clear the close ones with the auto shotgun, turn around and snipe the rest with the sniper rifle. Battle music fading off and i'am blowing the imaginary smoke from the tip of my fingers and saying "next!" But i can imagine your aim isn't that precisse for this with the controller. You will be cocky, when you know zombies position, your escape routes and at the late game, you will know those tier 5 POIs like the back of your hand and you want to spice some things a little :)

"Building for fun" is actually within our sights now that we've finally established a good well-fortified Horde Base. We're just starting to redecorate a POI that we've made our Home Base. But I am planning to build a personal house somewhere else in the map. Making a forward base is actually a good idea for me but I have no idea how to go about it since we got vehicles already. Maybe just more personal houses. I just wish that TFP either bring back some of the decorative furnitures like the Fridge or add more new ones. After working your way to a well fortified base to fight off the blood horde it's nice to finally take care of the aesthetic stuff and make yourself more at home. I also didn't know about the varying stats of lvl6 weapons. I just assume they're all the same.

Another tip for hiding heat, your #1 tip. Just build your workshop at bedrock. (Or at least 45 blocks from the surface) Then you can be above ground working and won’t get any screamers. I’ve done this for many alphas and works currently as of 08Feb21. #2: Burning barrels are great for screamer farms. No resources after the initial investment, can pick them back up and heat goes away immediately, can set it up at different POIs in town.

I ground out a TON of levels early game by base building. I basically made a 10x10x5 cube base and upgraded it all to cobblestone. And then i built a second floor. I was kinda curious about how tall I would eventually make it. Its a fun way to pass the night, spend the day gathering stacks and stacks of wood and cobblestone, then spend the night leveling up 2-5 times just building an addition to your house. Run the right pois and you can get tons of loot and cobblestone so you dont even have to sacrifice your day by mining rocks and clay instead of opening loot crates in barns and construction sites while gathering cobblestone and cement by the truckload. Then come back to base, cut down the dozen trees you plant each day or two, and start building.
@SavensWorld3 жыл бұрын
That sounds like an excellent approach. Upgrading blocks is the best way to gain xp.
@chrishubbard643 жыл бұрын
@@SavensWorld The one concern I have is, do I need to NOT level up too much at once or else risk getting swamped by higher level zombies that my wooden club and stone sledge cant handle? I imagine its offset by the fact that I AM raiding pois, if not as many as I probably could if I wasnt focusing on cobblestone heavy spots, so my chances of getting better loot are rising with my level (I saw your loot tier video) But if I stayed by my base, and just expanded my mine shaft further, coming up to grab more trees and clay then going right to building a 3rd, 4th, etc floor, would I find myself getting slaughtered by zombies meant to be faced by someone with iron weapons and middling guns at least?

So, does the heat not bother the Zs when no one is around, or do the Zs not spawn, or is there no heat generated when you're not in the chunk? Don't wanna come back to find my base in shambles. And the heat will still be produced when you're gone, right? Means it will reach 100% and as soon as you enter the chunk a Screamer will be spawned. I think I'll stick to firing the forges at night when I'm at the base, and turn them off (and give the heat time to decrease over the day) when I'm on my looting runs.

Addendum I would like to propose: Don’t get cocky in certain areas of POIs. In the ShamWay factory specifically 90% of it you can keep moving forward playing baseball with zombies heads. It is cost effective brass-wise to smelt down the Dukes. However, buying ammo does save time.
@chrishubbard643 жыл бұрын
No reason not to do both. Every trader restock day go to all the traders, buy their tips, casings, gunpowder, buckshot, and ammo, then smelt down a stack of coins to make up the difference in needed brass since you can mine for everything else. Like saven said, its a time saver and its really not that expensive once you get going in the game. A single stack of dukes will likely net you enough brass casings to craft ammo for the next couple hordes.

Best solution is to not shoot them in the green button. I know it sounds kinda silly to say it like that but its true. Find out whats setting them off. is it your auto turrets? The sledge turret? Your gunfire being badly aimed? And work to fix that. Having a second base nearby will only double the number of demos zombies it takes to ruin your horde night if you keep setting them off. Head shots only. Dont hip fire into a crowd of zombies that has a demo in it. Better to take time aiming than to have your base collapse.

Do you know how playing with a friend and fighting at the same base affect what zombies we see during blood moon were both game stage 80
@thelizardking89993 жыл бұрын
Game stage of bloodmoon is calculated by the combined gamestage of anyone in the “local area” regardless of being partied or not. So your collective gamestage would be 160, demos spawn after game stage 150 is hit as reference.
@thelizardking89993 жыл бұрын
@@曉p-p7t Here is the actual math. The 160 was just lazy math, just a ball park number thrown out because I didn't feel like doing the math or a full explanation over a cellphone. Calculation - Party If you are in a party, then you will have a Party Gamestage which determines the types of zombies you will encounter (but not loot; loot is different). Party game stage is calculated as follows. The highest individual Gamestage in the party is multiplied by startingWeight (gamestages.xml; default in A19 is 1.0) The next highest Gamestage is multiplied by parameter diminishingReturns (gamestages.xml; default in A19 is 0.5) and added to the party total The next highest Gamestage is multiplied by diminishingReturns2 and added to the total The next highest is multiplied by diminishingReturns3 and added to the total ...and so on... Example Player 1: Gamestage 100 Player 2: Gamestage 80 Player 3: Gamestage 60 Party Gamestage = (100 * 1.0) + (80 * 0.5) + (60 * (0.5 * 0.5)) = 155 Calculation - Blood Moon Horde on Multiplayer Servers On multiplayer servers, when the Blood Moon Horde event triggers, the game considers "nearby players" (details are not specified; see gamestages.xml) as a party and calculates a party Gamestage for the purposes of the local Blood Moon Horde. If any nearby players log out or log in during the event, the local "party" Gamestage will not change.

On Tip 1: The wiki is simply 'wrong'. The heatmap spawns them, but at that point they're looking for 'you' not the items which make heat. Screamers (and heatmap-created wandering hordes), will spawn somewhere around the heat source (roughly horde night spawn distance), but will then seek out the player in a very large radius. If you want not to play with the screamers, you need to be far enough away that the whole heat & screamer dynamic is completely un-rendered. It works as a kind of hybrid between normal zombie and horde night mechanics. Or in simplest terms, you need to be really far away to not get screamers from heat sources. Also, destroying, building, or upgrading blocks all raise the heatmap, along with jumping, shooting, explosives, killing, gore blocks, power tools, etc. (especially power tools). If you leave lit torches laying around in your home town, you'll get a ton of screamers at your base without even doing anything. Actually, I wouldn't recommend using torches at all, for anything, not even candles, not even at locations away from your base. A torch running 'all the time' can generate more heat than a forge running for 20 minutes in a given day. The "start-crafts and then leave" tactic can work, but you need to leave town entirely, not just leave the base. On Tip 3: Mining is as good as upgrading. Perhaps not "per second", but you can mine indefinitely, and you can only upgrade to the limit of your materials. Of course the mining gives you the materials to do upgrading, so it's win-win. Typically in a duo though, where one person mines and the other person builds & upgrades, the miner will pull well ahead in XP. Especially if they're higher level with a lot of miner-69er, mother lode, and have good tools.
@chrishubbard643 жыл бұрын
Isnt mining slower because you have to go from resource to resource?
@kathrynck3 жыл бұрын
@@chrishubbard64 "usually" you can mine a mineral vein all day and all night, gathering thousands upon thousands of units of material, and still not mine all of it. Even with a fully modded tier 6 auger and max miner69er and mining books, a decent iron vein will take you at least a full day (likely more) to fully clear. And you and your motorcycle will be hauling a frieght train worth of ore. You could build with those materials for XP which comes in a bit faster, so you might want to save your "xp potions" for that, since they don't last all that long. But the mining gives more total xp than building things with the mined materials, and it's quite a lot of xp once you're able to mine in bulk quickly.
@chrishubbard643 жыл бұрын
@@kathrynck Ah I didnt realize the ore keeps going deeper and deeper. Often I get like a layer or two below the surface and start hitting nothing but rock again, but im a new player using a level 1 iron pickaxe I looted from a crate at the tool shop. :p Is that with the mother lode type skills?
@kathrynck3 жыл бұрын
@@chrishubbard64 the ores are like 2-3 blocks wide at the surface, and narrow down to 1 block wide as they go down... but they only stay that narrow for a few blocks of depth, and then they branch out into a huge area with hundreds of blocks of ore. I usually just ignore the top part, go about 8 blocks to the side of it, and ramp down underneath it. I end up in a huge cave made out of all the mining being done. I've pulled over 60,000 iron out of a mine before just leaving it cuz I wanted to do other things. It gets to a point where you stop looking at the number of iron you're mining, and start thinking in terms of how many stacks of 6,000 you have accumulated. Just be careful, if you cause a big enough cave-in, it can kill u :P hehe. Oh, also you'll likely attract some zombies eventually, so be mindful to have a good weapon handy ;)

why do you need a base in each city? i just put storage chests on the ground.. its not like you get attacked much apart from horde night.. unless there are other players
@chrishubbard643 жыл бұрын
Its mainly an excuse to build more and get some extra levels I think. Honestly I suppose it makes sense if your playstyle is to strip every city bare instead of doing quests then move on. You can pack up your crafting stations in your 4x4, head to the next city and build another temporary home cube base till you clear that city out, then move on again. Only having to go back home for horde night.

@@tigrecito48 Yeah, underground bases got nerfed extra hard in alpha 19 I think it was. It used to be underground bunkers worked great, now they are super powered moles with structural engineering degrees who know exactly where you are and the fastest way to get to you. They work great for home bases, ive just started a game where I dug to bedrock (took like 3 repairs of my stone axe to get there, lol) Then hollowed it out to put down storage and whatnot and so far no issues with zombies. I like the idea of finding a high rise and doing laps around it to avoid too much damage being done. It works if you dont want to fight the horde.

another way to get a lot of screamers to spawn in is to feather(tap instead of hold) your auger/chainsaw. !!!CAUTION!!! doing this for a whole tank or more will call in a ridiculious ammount of screamers dont do this unless you want to die, have a shit load of ammo you dont need, have a great base or u have a lot of explosives to use for your zombie hole base. also might be usefull in certian pvp situations.

put a sledge turret about 2 blocks (find the distance where it hits the zombies but not the front of your defences) infront of where u fight from the hatch or bunker facing you so as the zombies are attacking the hatch or wall/poles the turret is going to town it stops them from building up and does a lot of damage /ragdolls them. so far seems like an exploit. if a demo shows up back up a bit the turret turns off than u gun down the demo and move forward agian and go back 2 work!
