You can save time and get a better look with the tracks here, just paint them in a dusty, earthy colour, overspill onto the surrounding armour is not an issue as dust/dirt would be kicked up anyway, this is the dust/dirt trapped in the track links, then dry brush with a dark rusty brown and finish with a light dry brush of a gun metal colour just hitting the most pronounced edges, those are your contact points where the tracks are in constant contact with the ground, much more believable than silver tracks and I reckon it would be quick and easy to do even at this scale

I know you painted that amazing tank on the video, but its been commented elsewhere that for infantry models, painting on sprue and then putting on the base is a great and preferable method. Just have to remove any connection to the sprue, save for the attachment at the base, and prime/paint away and remove at the base connection when done. Great video as always Byron, keep 'em coming, they are great lessons to us mere "adequate" painters!!

I just found your channel and will begin a binge-watch momentarily. I purchased many miniatures 3 decades ago and gave up on painting when I destroyed a wizard with my poor skills. I'm hoping to find some basic information on paints, I mean basic ... wash? contrast? base? I am clueless but I have some hope after watching this video. Thanks for showing your technique ... I think I can do this. -Ace

I would suggest trying the dark in top on the sides to define the contrast with the top of the vehicle but that’s just IMHO

Either is good, if you're weathering that can result in it all being dark, but it's great on shiny ones

How did you do the panel line exactly? Gloss varnish, then acrylic sepia wash and then just be very fast with the cotton bud to not let stuff dry? Or enamels and white spirits so you have time?
@ArtisOpus Жыл бұрын
With the varnish down you don't need spirits, I just used water, 90%+ will come up if you're not super-slow, it works surprisingly well. Even airbrush cleaner would lift off way more, should work at minimum as well as mine

There's so much good content and tips here, I'm going to be watching this multiple times for sure. Any chance there'll be more videos showing off more content around the little tips you showed? I'm planning to paint World Eaters, so I'm sure I could learn a lot from the White Scars tank you've done

Great video! I'm intending to do Raven Guard, so lots of black but also plenty of white. What would you suggest for that? When it actually comes to painting the infantry, is there anything to be said to painting them on the sprue?
@ArtisOpus Жыл бұрын
Good question, but I don't think so, definitely removing them, sticking them to sprue in a line and painting is a good idea, but the tabs aren't always great and they need a bit of prepping before paint IMO. Raven Guard: Get a good white. Bold titanium from Pro Acryl is seriously strong, and a channel favourite.
@max16 Жыл бұрын
so what i have found is dark silver from pro acril is probably the god tier of single coat weapon casing and dark metals. it is NUTS how good it looks.

So for panel lining and a dark scheme, would something like black basecoat, varnish, light grey panel lines and then black contrast over the top work?
@ArtisOpus11 ай бұрын
Your lines would be lighter than your surroundings there buddy, I'd go for a white basecoat, asides from that absolutely. Oil washes would work, too, but they might be 'too' thin

Epic Space Marine was my entry into the hobby in the early 90s. Hooboy, has miniature painting come a long way since then. The minis in this clip are about five times better than 'Eavy Metal miniatures used to be back then.

😅 things have come on a lot, haven't they! Even just the products, paint coverage, etc. These minis are wonderful, whoever was involved made some very smart decisions on what to leave and what to cut, what to exaggerate scale-wise etc.
