Price signed for 10 mil, in MTL how long ago? Bobrovski was stealing 10 mil AAV from Florida up until the 3rd or 4th game of the playoffs last season... Bucky and Scheifele could have played serious hardball like Tkachuk and Johnny G did with Calgary... Jets fans should be ecstatic honestly, but SO many seem to still want that rebuild so badly, they just can't move on and support this game plan moving forward... they will find a way to btch and moan about this for 8 years now... lmfao...

@@stentorofsparta3576 it has been the plan for a ton of teams to keep their top talent. Especially in a market like Winnipeg... like, you do understand this isn't Vegas right? We can't just replace these players on the open market this offseason...and if you have players like these 2 who are willing to stay, (and if you think 8.5 AAV for 7 years isn't a hometown discounts with the amount the cap is set to raise) you take these deals all day long. You're willingly being blind ATM, because you don't want to see the obvious point staring you in your face... That is losing these guys for absolutely nothing, or taking a shit robbery deal, because nobody has any cap, or taking a shit deal with prospects and picks, especially after a trade like the Dubois one, is the biggest mixed messaging move I'd have ever seen... And the OBVIOUS fail in this situation... 2 players don't make an entire team right... but 2 extremely important players can make all the difference... And again, you could convince me that a rebuild is a better idea... but that's clearly been explained to fans now that's not the direction we're going in... So the options I can see, is either get with the program, or enjoy bitching and moaning instead of supporting your favorite team if you want for the foreseeable future...🤷 You do realize Nathan McKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog were on the Colorado Avs for a long time before they got their cup... Same with Stamkos and the lightning. People told them to blow it up after a disaster first round L to CBJ... then they became an arguable dynasty... Very smart and good deal for the Jets. When the Cap increases, and with inflation at 4 % per year, $ 8.5 million will seem like a steal, 4 years down the road. All it will buy you is a second line center at best. Think "long term" on this deal, as it's really a winner. Helle is in the Top 4 to 5 Goalies in the NHL ( check) and Scheifele is a # 1 center coming off a 42 Goal season ( check). The Jets need these 2 core players to build around. I very much like this deal, and it's affordable.

The Jets never talked about doing a rebuild. The Jets never talked about trading Hellybuyck and Scheifele. Hellybuyck and Scheifele never said they wanted to be traded. Hellybuyck and Scheifele never said they wouldn't resign. And yet the Toronto sports media and those weirdos who hate the Winnipeg Jets for some reason have spent MONTHS telling everyone that the Jets are doing a rebuild, Jets talked about trading Hellybuyck and Scheifele, that Hellybuyck and Scheifele wanted out of Winnipeg and that Hellybuyck and Scheifele wouldn't resign with the Jets. So I guess the takeaway in all this is that the Toronto sports media and those weirdos who hate the Winnipeg Jets for some reason should just stfu and go away. Nobody should listen to them, particularly when all they do in their day-to-day is writing fluff pieces about the Laffs. What it means is the Jets have Hellebuyck and Scheifele signed long term but it doesn't mean they can't trade either of them. For example: if the New Jersey Devils want Connor Hellebuyck (hypothetically speaking) they would have to pay a lot more to get him i.e. Mercer, Marino, Schmid and a 1st round pick. That's what I would want for Hellebuyck regardless but it's a lot easier to command a high asking price when you have players signed with term as they now do with both Hellebuyck and Scheifele. It's possible both remain with the Winnipeg Jets for the remainder of their careers. In Chevy I Trust!!!

On the contrary expect many more underwelming painful years if you are a Jets fan. Helle folds when the going gets tough but in his defence they overplay him and he burns out but 55 is a whole other problem. He is one of the cancers in the Jets room and we have seen that by his actions during previous seasons. They are basically rewarding him for causing issues on the team and he is an extremely poor example for any of the younger up and coming players. Chevy needs to be booted out.

They went to the Western Conference Finals in 2018 which counts as a deep run in my opinion. As far as Wheeler is concerned, they bought his contract at two-thirds of his salary spread out over two seasons which falls under the NHL's guidelines. You say nobody wanted either Scheifele or Hellebuyck? I think it is more likely that nobody wanted them at the high asking price Cheveldayoff would no doubt be asking without them being signed long-term.

If Hellebuyck is gonna be one of the top paid NHL goaltenders for the next 7 years, I hope his numbers are gonna reflect that bcuz the Jets cud use the money elsewhere to become a serious playoff contender
